Red River Ski Summer Area

If you enjoy skiing or snowboarding, this small but awesome place is perfect when there is snow. They also make snow, but only certain areas are open. You can check out webcams online or visit one of the many other New Mexico ski areas nearby, such as Angel Fire, Taos Ski Valley, Sipapu, and Ski Santa Fe. It is also a beautiful area to visit in the summer, located along the New Mexico Scenic Byway known as the Enchanted Circle. Cimmaron State Park and Eagles Nest, New Mexico are nearby, with a picturesque lake and plenty of American Eagles to be seen. There are many things to do and see in this great area. I enrolled my 5-year-old child in a group ski lesson on Saturday, 1/8/22, and she experienced a headache due to the high altitude and lack of oxygen. She was unable to return for the afternoon portion of the lesson. The ski school suggested I speak to management about a possible partial refund since my child did not attend the full day or move to a later afternoon class. After speaking with management, they said they would call me on Sunday, but unfortunately, they lost my contact information. I was then informed on Monday, 1/10, that there was availability for a makeup lesson in the afternoon. The beginner slopes are wonderfully long and green, perfect for those starting out in skiing. However, it is worth noting that there is a separate lift ticket required for children who only use these slopes. I didn't personally experience the lifts when teaching my son, but I have heard that they are slow. Despite this, the trails themselves are decent.
