Early one weekend morning since this place opens at 0700, my son and I met up at Red's for their weekend brunch menu. My son has been here a couple of times before and has high praises so I wanted to give it a go.We were the 3rd table taken at a little after 7 am and were quickly served our coffee and tea. I had the Reds original, two farm fresh eggs, back bacon, some fruit and a heaping plateful of fried potatoes. I agree with all the other reviews as far as the food being good and the atmosphere being great etc etc, however, the mandatory 18% tip for parties of six or more is ridiculous. First of all, you are never legally obligated to tip anything. A tip is an optional thing, given to show that you appreciated the service. I can see setting the number at 10 people or more because large groups are difficult for servers to handle, but setting it for 6 or more is not reasonable. As a general rule if the service is even just average, I tip 15-18% but to have a place tell me I have to tip 18% regardless of what the service is like is a real turn off and I most likely will not go back, which is a shame be...
We ended up coming here for breakfast, since it was close to where we were staying in Calgary. Probably one of the best meals we had on our trip. My husband had the peach french toast, and I had a peach chicken salad (I know, not really breakfast food), and they were both incredibly delicious. The service was excellent. So much, in fact, that my husband arranged to have a couple of business meetings there, just so he could try more of the menu. Prices were reasonable. Not a huge place, but cozy and kind of funky. We will definitely return on our next trip to Calgary
Been wanting to try this place for a long time - finally did but not sure what the hype is all about. Perhaps we didnt order the right dishes? We had the steak and eggs and the Hawaiian burger. Everything was done nicely - the steak was cooked perfectly, good rye toast, but the rest was just...meh. The potatoes were disappointing (lots of burnt skin scraps rather than the meat) and eggs were just eggs. No real Wow factor here, we've been to a dozen similar or better places in Calgary.

Six of us went for breakfast on a Sunday, it took us a while to get a table, which was fine. Food was good, service was good, the bill came and I paid it with an 18% tip. THEN I noticed that the tip had already been added (due to a party of six). I am not impressed that I was not told this as I don't make it a habit to examine my bill. I tipped $45 on a $125 bill. Really soured my visit. Usually wait staff tell me when tip has been added - not sure I will go back.
Four of us made the trip hoping to get a place for brunch at this busy Diner. We got lucky and sat down right away (10AM). Eggs Benedict with Valentina hot sauce is recommended! The French toast with berry compote and goat cheese inside was more than one person could handle.Typical bacon and eggs .All served bya friendly waitress.
30 minute wait time. Seated quickly as soon as room available. Waiter was very friendly and courteous. Food was served quickly and very good. We'll worth the wait. Very comfortable setting. Pricing was expensive but competitive. We were very happy with the meal and service at Reds. Would go back if we went to visit again. Thanks.

On holidays and went out for walk in the Beltline area of Calgary and decided to try Reds. Great atmosphere, great service and great food. Had the soup and sandwich special, very tasty and fresh. They also serve breakfast all day.
The place is small and the food is amazing Perfect place for brunch in Calgary! I had a pancake and an omelette with brie and woww! Perfect size and perfect flavor! Definetily try it when u are in the Calgary downtown area
