I was solo hiking from Seez to Refuge de la Gittaz. A very long, tiring day, and with weather warning of possible thunder, I was in a hurry to get to the refuge. Just before reaching it, there's an incredible rocky cliff path you walk along, with exposed edge that drops into the river. Fascinating! I was so relieved to arrive, as it began to rain. I was welcomed by Eric, who was also my email contact. Great, kind host! To my surprise, I was the only person staying there in the refuge! With my limited French, I relaxed with Eric and his wife Katy and friends, sipping beer and they offered me a glass of anis-flavoured drink called Pastis Des Alpes. Great discovery for this refuge on the trail of the most beautiful trails in the region. TDS Very warm and friendly welcome, good cuisine ‍, beautiful spot to discover the Gittaz dam below. Possibility of going up by car, mountain bike or on foot. To discover in your mountain diaries ️

Pretty refuge ideally located at the foot of the mountains and on the edge of a stream, with charming chapel. Warm, family welcome, quality Savoyard cuisine. Thank you and see you soon!

Excellent welcome. Simple but delicious food. A very relaxing stopover in a magnificent setting
