We have been going to R22 for a few years now have loved it. The food is great. We’re always surprised by something the wine pairings are spot on. We always opt for the full tasting menu and flight of wines to get the most out of the experience. The place is cute cosy, which is one of the reasons we’ve repeated our visits. Our last trip was not so great though we won’t be going back. It all started so well. Incredible food wine as always. Cannot complain about that. Half way through the meal my husband commented that he thought we were being rushed a little. We had finished the whole thing at the same time as those around us who were having the shorter menu. Certainly not how it should be or...
Having had this on our wish list for a while we decided to treat dine here as our Christmas gift to ourselves, and we were not disappointed. Lovely setting and attentive staff. The food was amazing, tasty and beautifully presented with clear explanations as each was served. It would be difficult to pick a favourite dish all were so good, with the most delicious combinations of flavour and texture. On a personal note the only thing we didn't enjoy was the yeast butter one of three, so plenty of the others to enjoy with the most delicious bread we have ever had . The only very minor suggestion for improving the score from 99 to 100 would be staggering the serving of dishes in the upstairs area...
I can’t quite believe I haven’t already written a review ! We have dined at 22 multiple times now and we absolutely love the place! There is a total sense of calm as soon as you walk through the door. Attention to detail with service is second to none and we always feel so welcomed and totally taken care of the staff here are truly something special. Each member exudes exemplary knowledge, service is friendly and attentive, without ever being intrusive and we look forward to seeing the girls and guys here as much as we look forward to the food ! What can I say ? I’ve eaten at Michelin starred restaurants all over the world, and hand on heart this has got to be the best. The flavours and presentation was second to none. Even down to the bread and butter at the beginning of the meal. I never seen so much effort go into it !! We chose the classic flight of wine to accompany the courses and they were a perfect match. The staff were perfect without being over the top. Every course was outstanding. The two hour experience was out of this world. Previous reviews make a very compelling case as to why this is simply a fabulous restaurant. But you need to try it for yourself. It is very special and the quality of the food is out of this world. The friendly service complements the whole experience and the staff are all incredibly knowledgeable. Although a tasting menu, with multiple courses, they arrive at a leisurely pace and you never feel full. We had the classic wine flight and this was extremely carefully chosen with flavours that paired superbly. We will definitely return and although not cheap, this place was worth every last penny. This experience was gifted to us by our children, what a treat. Do not let the unassuming façade distract from the experience within. We booked the tasting menu and accompanied it with the appropriate wine selection menu. The dishes were all quite simply perfect, each course was carefully explained, each wine was described eloquently as to why it was matched to the course, this was not simply a meal, it truly was an experience, one which could have been in London, Paris or Madrid (bar the lingo) delivered with perfect theatre to ensure we walked out having thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful and moment.
This is the 2nd time Weber been back for a meal here. The time before was before they were awarded their Michelin star. This time we were able to squeeze for lunch due to a cancellation. The food, service, wine paring were all outstanding. The only disappointment was we were served a coffee cup with lipstick stains on it. Highly recommended and will always try to eat there when we’re in Cambridge.
WOW! This restaurant is absolutely flawless and couldn't be better. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable, and the food is the best I've had in a long time. The portion sizes on the Short Tasting Menu are perfect, with a variety of delicious flavors to enjoy. The non-alcoholic drinks that came with each course were also perfect. Truly outstanding. A meal I will remember for the rest of my life. Each course of the tasting menu was simply delicious. We had the non alcoholic drinks menu to accompany which was also outstanding unusual flavours to accompany each course. Simply wow all round. Can’t wait to be back. We first came about five years ago… it was good then but it’s now stratospheric.
