I was staying in the Adler and thought I would try their restaurant on my last night in Oberstdorf. Extremely happy that I did.The restaurant is (normally) not open on Monday and Tuesday nights other than to full-board guests.I didn't reserve a table, but it would be a good idea to do so in high season.The waiting staff were extremely friendly and efficient, and within a few minutes of sitting down I had been given my menu and asked what I would like to drink.I chose a small mixed salad as a starter and a main course of the daily special - roast pork with red cabbage and a large potato dumpling. Bavarian heritage for over 150 years. Conveniently located for the town centre the Adler offers traditional hospitality of a pleasingly high and friendly standard. The rooms are well presented, generally in customary style, pine furniture, crisp bedlinens, although rooms are also available in a modern style. Bed and a great breakfast costs around €50 per person, good value for money in my opinion. The Adler boasts a selection of restaurants and menus, the food is excellent. If like me you're a fan of Rosti and fresh local produce then you will not be disappointed here. Local character along with local characters make a visit to this charming establishment worthwhile indeed.
Hotel Adler is simply one of the best experiences in Germany, let alone Oberstdorf.The rooms are bright and clean. The hotel is reflects the care and attention only a family run hotel can.And the food coming out of the kitchen is heavenly. The meat is tender, the sauces are a perfect balance. The choice of beverages is excellent too. And for breakfast, fresh breads, cheeses, meat and excellent coffee.
