It was my second visit to this typical Peruvian little restaurant located a few steps behind the aylmer library. My lover and I shared a ceviche (fish marinated in the lime juice accompanied by onions, maize with suvée and sweet potatoes) and a jalea (generous shrimp serving, squid, fish and yuca fried with two delicious sauces). the decor and the music take us directly to the peru. the service is courteous and attentive, but I would say more reserved or shy than a usual service (in Spanish or English only). prices are rather high, but I think they are worth the cost (for flavor, freshness and quantity). the terrace is very pleasant in summer. I will certainly return soon to try their buffet...

First at all if you haven't tried Peruvian food you have no idea what you have been missing. I agree with other reviews that the place (both inside/outside) may not look fancy, but don't get biased on this aesthetic element as the beauty of this place is the amazing dishes and excellent service and all for the right price. Amazonas has become my best favourite restaurant in the Ottawa/Gatineau region and it is so worthy to drive to Aylmer every time. You won't be disappointed with anything from the menu. My favourites include: Causa, Empanadas, Ceviche, Lomo Saltado, Chaufa rice and of course you cannot miss the popular Pisco Sour cocktail.

After many years absence, I returned yesterday with a friend to celebrate her birthday. My good memories of a previous visit was justified. Great food, competent but not great service. We shared an appetizer, two empanadas, which were tasty and took the edge off our famished stomach while we waited for the main dish. We both had the seafood and rice, which very good: abundant amounts of seafood and slightly spiced rice. We each had a glass of white one with it; the amounts served were more generous than offered elsewhere, and the wine was very good. We finished with desert... quite good. Total bill was around $80

If you're looking for authentic Peruvian cuisine in the capital region, look no further than Amazonas. Segundo's cuisine is one of the best I have tasted in recent years, all products are from Peru and made "at home". This is a family owned restaurant that has been catering to the Peruvian community for years. I have known Segundo and Rosa for nearly 17 years and have witnessed their business grow. During this time they have stayed true to their roots and have remained loyal to all 0their customers, If you're looking for his specialty dishes, order tamales, lomo saltado, escabeche or ceviche.

My wife and I have been to Amazonas a number of times, most recently last week and every time it brings us back to the 2.5 weeks we spent travelling throughout Peru. During that time we absolutely fell in love with the Peruvian people, culture and especially cuisine. Amazonas is as authentic as it comes. Great, fresh food served in a small, unpretentious family run restaurant at reasonable prices. This is one of my top spots in the area and I will be returning.

We visited this Peruvian restaurant on Sunday noon with our 3 children. the service offered by the proprio is friendly, but could be a little more dynamic. servings (riz, chicken, lamb, shrimp, squid) were tasteful and generous. We would have liked to have a lunch menu because it came back a little expensive for a lunch. We go back to try the Peruvian buffet offered once by me.

If you want a really taste of Latin food in Aylmer, Quebec (near to Ottawa), this is the right place to be. Always fresh, always very well prepared. Family ambiance. Better to have reservations. Is a family restaurant. The owner is all the time there. He is very polite and he is very attentive.

Do not get fooled by the outside appearance: this is great restaurant if you are into first class food instead of flashy location and decor. Everything is good, well prepared and so fresh. One of our "will always go back" restaurant

not too impressed by food or service. The atmosphere is latino of course but the servers couldn't explain the dishes to me. I ended up taking green rice and my children from the Canadian food.
