Restaurant Auberge de Saint Martin

Visited yet again a couple of times recently. When the benchmark is set so high it easier to fall short but there was never any danger really. On a hot lunchtime, the open air dining was a welcome respite with the light mists of refreshing water only adding to the relaxation.The welcome was professional yet friendly as was the service throughout.The 'on the spot' cooking was a pleasure to watch and fare produced absolutely without pretension and delicious.The Formulae 1, 2

Amazingly they managed to completely overcook the veal I ordered for the main course, I think it may have been forgot about as the plate it came on was very hot and everything else on it was dry. We arrived at 7.30 and were one of the first tables. When we left at 9.45 the restaurant was full and only two other tables were eating.

We ate here for a friends birthday, 14 of us all in total. The food was very good and served to perfection without any of us waiting too long before our dishes arrived. The waitresses worked brilliantly and coped very well. An excellent experience.

Home made terrine de lapin, faux-filet cooked to perfection over a wood fire, cheese, coffee and a half litre of good local wine - what could be better?

It is always a pleasure to have lunch at our villa restaurant. Good and healthy food prepared by the chef. Vegetables from his garden.
