Restaurant Choko Ona

We arrived at this little restaurant purely by chance. It was 3pm on a Sunday and yet Sylvie still charmingly invited us in. We had no idea it was Mothers Day and the restaurant was full. A table was found for us and we were served the most delightful set menu of regional food with beautiful wine. Unfortunately for us they were closing for the next 2 weeks for their annual holiday otherwise we would definitely have returned during our stay in this amazing region. I highly recommend you search out this beautiful restaurant with its high quality food and charming service.

This little restaurant has been in the same family for three generations, and it shows! Really lovely food. Both the dishes I chose contained something to which I am allergic and I was accommodated by leaving those items out. The result was no less appealing to the eye and the palate. Wonderful ris d'agneau with cêpes and in the centre, a poached pear. Neither cheap nor expensive. Qualité prix - that is you get what you pay for. The restaurant could have been a little warmer - i needed to put my coat back on.... We would go back.

I've been going to Saint Jean Le Vieux for years and always make a point of stopping here for lunch or dinner. Great hosts, excellent value and the soups are to die for, love this area of the Basque Country or I should say God's Country, thank you Choko and keep it coming!

Family lunch for three nice dishes of scallops and rice and confit of duck with puree legume.Nice service easy going and efficient.Great value/quality ratio.We are repeat customers and would recommend you give them a try.

Another great family lunch at Choko , excellent squid in ink, sauteed fois with pear, cepes omelettes , this place only gets better every time I go! Price for quality is very reasonable. CONGRATS CHOKO! Keep it coming!
