Restaurant de la Mer

We've had the all lobster menu during our stay at Domaine de la Roche Vilaine and it was excellent all the way including deserts and paired wine. A few mistakes can be corrected: we've been asked if we prefer one whole big lobster for smaller ones and we picked one big lobster as recommended by the chef. But obviously we did not get the one that was shown to us, nor one whole as the claws served to us for example are of different sizes. Still the lobster was perfectly cooked around different variations and we very much enjoyed our dinner with a great sea view and an incandescent sunset.

Nevertheless, the lobster was perfectly cooked for different variations and we enjoyed our evening meal with a great sea view and a glowing sunset.

The restaurant is part of the Domaine de Rochevilaine hotel, stunningly situated on a headland overlooking the sea. The restaurant has quirky old furnishings and a lovely view. Four of us came here for dinner and were all delighted with our choices. I tried the...vive a fish similar to sea bream. It was served with a kind of chutney that complemented it brilliantly. The wines we chose were reasonably priced and fabulous. The service was friendly and attentative. I would definitely come here again.

The menu and wine list offer a marvellous meal for two or as a family. The service is attentive, perhaps overly so at times, but friendly nonetheless. We ate the turbot which was the arrivage du jour' and this was truly excellent. I enjoyed the...sardines as a starter but my wife was less impressed with the oysters. The desserts were well received. The first night eating here was superb. Better than the two times we've eaten at two star restaurants. I had a fois gras dish and a sweetbreads dish. Ate here again a later in the week and the food was only mediocre. We were offered...and encouraged to take the a special tasters menu selected for us by the chef. The food/sauces were bland not at all what you expect in France. Perhaps they thought that's what Americans/Brits like?

Fabulous multi-course lobster dinner with paired wines, overlooking the Bay of Biscay and framing a beautiful sunset watching one of the lobstermen pulling in his traps. The service was impeccable and each course perfectly paired with a different wine. One of our best meals in...France!

It was fabulous, fine and not overly indulgence. great value for money and quality quality ingredients. great view, relaxing and peaceful. love : will definitely...be coming back! Not cheap by any means but very accomplished. The pigeon we both had was excellent. My foie gras starter was very good but the souffle not quite as good as we've had elsewhere. Professional staff and pleasant atmosphere.
