In a trip just finished to Munich, Prague, and Vienna, my wife and I found a restaurant in each city that was intimate, but despite the small number of tables, truly extraordinary in the artistry of the chef and the quality of the service. In...Munich, that restaurant was Restaurant Ebert. The food and the atmosphere make this a perfect place for a celebratory dinner. It really is intimate, so the menu is limited. On our visit there were plates for the dinner itself and desserts. Vegetarian, meat, and fish were all there. Each person chooses or things, possibly including a dessert. We opted at first for courses from the dinner menu, and wound up sharing dishes, so we pretty well covered all bases. Each one was excellent. We would have tried all but there was a salmon roe dish that we each knew we were not prepared to share. We were right: sitting in a lovely cauliflower puree, it was to die for. As I look at their web site today, I see a whole new menu, so I won't go into more detail about the individual dishes. Trust me, you will have no trouble finding plates to enjoy. We could have walked away very happy after our third course, but we were enjoying the evening so much that we just had to try both desserts. Not surprisingly, they were a treat.

The food is very good here however the service is probably the slowest I've ever seen for a restaurant of this calibre and price. We were here for over three hours with a group of for a work dinner. Once we were seated it...took over min just to get water and a glass of wine. I had the raviolis which were excellent and also the fish. The fish was just OK but the ravioli was excellent. My co worker and I ordered the same fish however mine came with skin-on and hers did not. I thought that was also peculiar.

We have become something a bit like regulars over the years at Ebert and it is a very special gem of a fine dining restaurant. The food is always exceptional as is the wine pairing. And the menue changes frequently enough to make repeat visits...never become boring. As someone who enjoys tasting menues and fine wine, I rarely have seen such a warm welcone, exceptional value and very tasty food. As with all tasting menues, a visit to Eberts should be celebrated as an evening filling event.

Nice service and cosy atmosphere, but the card is expensive and not necessarily that extraordinary for the price. Some dishes are quite good (grilled aubergine with quinoa) but some others are quite disappointing (crêpe filled with roquefort). Card is limited to maybe dishes in...all (which for me is a good sign), and you pay EUR for items, a bit more for and again a bit more for Overall not bad and some originality, but not worth the price.
