Service was decent and good choice of foods which were typical quality for this type of mountain restaurant. Certainly tasty and nicely presented but not gourmet. Take a table close to the railings though and you have a panoramic view across to - in my opinion - is one of the most beautiful Alpine views you will have. The restaurant is about a 50 meter walk up a steepish path from the mountain railway and this is a high altitude restaurant (well over 2000 meters). We went with my parents who are in their eighties and they just took plenty of stops on the way up (there are seats). They took the train all the way up and down. The rest of us took the train up and walked down to the middle station after lunch. This is a very tiring, steep, steep walk (its not called a mountain footpath for nothing) that takes over 2 hours. It is a fantastic walk though - highlight of our Swiss stay - as the scenery is out of this world. If i am ever having a bad day, I just return to those views and my heart is lifted.
We only had enough time to go up on one train and down on the next one, so slipped in for a quick coffee and a warm. And what a view! We felt we were on the top of the world, with breathtaking views of startlingly beautiful mountain peaks above the fog and the clouds.Come here and enjoy a wonderful coffee from friendly and attentive staff - we did!
The food was good and service was average. At the top of this mountain, don't expect too much from this restaurant. If it is sunny, try to sit outside. Too bad the day I was there, it was raining heavily. Price is fair at this location. The hot chocolate was like ovaltine...I wish it was real chocolate!
