Restaurant Traube Dietingen

Swiss friends of ours recommended we meet on the road between our homes at the Traube in Dietingen and very kindly made a reservation - Monday and so shortly after New Year's! We had a spacious table for 4 that would easily have hosted 6 in the second room. When you enter, the first part is more rustique, behind the bar and two steps down an elegant dining room for some 30-50 guests. Well visited but not full, noise level very low.We had drinks while working through a very varied choice on the ordinary menu, special menu card and specials of the day on a small board. My tuna carpaccio was good, the Riesling soup delicious, the others enjoyed their salads (mixed and green). The mains were outstanding: lots of local specialities like Egli (fish) and venison or similar, each cooked to perfection, served in a stylish way with care and steaming hot. We had red wine by the glass which was perfect with my medallions of venison that came with Spätzli (type of pasta from southern Germany) and a selection of cooked fruits, berries, red cabbage and brokkoli. For dessert, we either had ice cream, chocolate mousse or caramelised pine apple with ice and some type of frozen sweet. Could not have been any better.Service is professional, white table linen and napkins, great glasses and cutlery, just a perfect ensemble. Karl even came to our table and enquired personally whether we were happy.Dear Traube team, please keep it up, we are ready to also try your rooms :-)

The nets were excellent: many local specialties such as Egli (fish and wilderness or similar, each cooked to perfection, served in a stylish way with care and steam hot. this restaurant is in a very old building, typica Swiss and very nicely located with a perfect view over the Thurtal. during summertime you can enjoy the nice terrace and the view in the evening is outstanding. but also inside the restaurant is very charming. the food is made with love and always very good. the menue changes from time to time as well so you find always something new when you visit this place a couple of times during the year. service is very friendly and you feel always welcome. they also have a very good wine cellar. it is good to book a table as this place is very often fully booked.

No matter if you have a romantic dinner or you want to take out for dinner your important business partner, the restaurant Traube will surprise you. very good selection of wines.All the dishes are special and taken care to the detail, the service is impeccable and also the view from the hill is relaxing.One of the best restaurant in Switzerland I have been so far.Get ready to a great place, however with a proportional bill.

We had a splendid evening in this typical German country restaurant . The selection of food and beverages was impressive. As well food preparation and service was at the highest level.If you are in that area of the Black Forest I suggest " kehr ein"( Visit)
