My twin brother Stephen and I were pub and bar hopping around this part of Benalmádena when we chanced upon Lucena 1 ,a great bar that serves some of the coldest beers in this part of town. Loved the interior of this bar ,wonderful decor and furnishings, very traditional, lots of seating options spread throughout this bar both inside and outside on their terrace, this is were we chose to sit on a roasting hot afternoon, September weather was awesome,temperatures in the mid 90's, we ordered a pint of Mahou green beer, these were served in excellent condition being iced cold and sparkling and we just kicked back, chilled out and soaked up the sun while sipping our beers. I must say that the beers served in here are excellent, normally stay on the bottles of beer when on resorts but I've found over many years of visiting Spain that the draught lager in Spanish pubs,bars and restaurants is always first class, the Mahou green beer is such a light, hoppy and unpretentious lager style beer bursting with taste, very easy to drink, a beer style both myself and my twin brother Stephen are particularly fond of. We really enjoyed our beers in here before we moved on and for a first time visit to Lucena 1 we had a great time. Lucena 1 is easy to locate along Avenida De La Roca, a street and area teeming with pubs, bars and restaurants, its most definitely well worth checking out if you're in the area.
Restaurante Lucena I is a superb Spanish restaurant in Benalmádena that offers an excellent food and drinks menu. Located on Av.de la Roca and a couple of minute's walk from Playa de Santa Ana an excellent beach and some great bars and pubs. With a typical Spanish restaurant look and feel with nice decor and furnishings and a superb outside seating terrace its an ideal restaurant to enjoy a meal or a few drinks. We went here while on our way to our hotel and visited here for a few beers.One of the staff came over and we ordered a glass of Mahou Clásica each which were excellent and well priced. This is an excellent restaurant in a superb location and well worth visiting and is easy to locate from Selwo Marina bus stop it's a few minute's walk.(This is my first review of Restaurante Lucena I). Having eaten excellent paellas and seafood dishes at Lucena II restaurant in Torremuelle we went to Lucena I when we visited Benalmádena Arroyo de la Miel expecting the same quality and taste. Yes, the food was very good too, but at Lucena II it was even tastier and had more seafood in it. Having said that, the meals are worth recommending.
There are lots of options to choose from and several for vegetarians. I would suggest the pasta with garlic and oil. Delicious! The restaurant is located away from the hustle and bustle but you still have a small view of the beach and get the beautiful ocean breeze. The waiters are very welcoming and friendly.
