Ristorante Frascati

One of the joys of early summer in Zurich is the chance to dine Alfresco, particularly by the lake and Frascati is perfect for this. We chose to sit a little apart from the larger outdoor terrace as it was crowded and rather noisy.The area...closer to the restaurant still allows you to enjoy the view, dinner and most importantly conversation. Our waitress was most helpful particularly when selecting a wine; we chose a crisp, well balanced white from Tuscany which perfectly complimented the grilled branzino. The fish was very fresh and simply served with grilled vegetables; quite delicious. The evening was somewhat spoilt when diners at a nearby table decided to ‘enjoy’ a cigarette! Swiss law allows smoking outdoors, even in restaurants. It was unfortunate, and had it happened earlier I would have asked to move to a different table. However, as we had finished our meal, we decided to enjoy the lakeside walk back to the hotel. Eating out in Zurich is expensive, unless you are Swiss, so be prepared in advance to find prices for wine, in particular to be much higher than the U.K. .

It's not our visit at Frascati but this time we were awed by the quality of the meals. We ordered a mixed salad with mozzarella. It was a gently grilled salad of various vegetables and a huge snowball of tasty mozzarella. We were fortunately...inspired and ordered but one plate for two and we could not finish it. The next entry was venetian style veal liver on purple sweet potato. A surprisingly soft liver meal on a surprising huge and soft blue sweet potato. The house rose wine was excellent, the espressos as well. Service very attentive and the price very reasonable. We recommend sharing the large portions.

The food is good however the service is quite poor. We were waiting to order for almost half an hour, then the drinks to come for another half an hour but it was first the food that was served. Otherwise the waiters were friendly and...nice but it seems not well organised or not enough for the area to attend.

Food was good, but nothing to jump up and down about. I also believe it was overpriced for the overall size and quality, but it is right on the promenade so guess that is to be expected

Really good pizza! Very cosy and good service, there is also a weekly lunch menu with specials. And a normal menu of course...
