This was my first time at River Japanese Cuisine and I came shortly after 8PM on a Friday.While I LOVED the anime and Japanese-themed decor (the 2 human-size Gokú and Vegeta statues made me smile with delight), I had a server that was limited English and it was difficult communicating exactly what we needed. I understand the cultural demographics of Flushing, but it was hard to communicate with the server assigned to us. My wife and I ordered from the all you can eat menu, and the price came to around $40 per person. The menu gives small sampler sizes of some of the appetizers (takoyaki comes with 2 balls) but full sizes of their sushi rolls! I’d say if you can eat a lot of sushi in one sitting until you’re full, definitely go with the buffet. I have also dined at their restaurant before, and their Deluxe Ramen was To DIE for! While this review is based on the most recent visit, I'm also keeping in mind the older nice experiences of the restaurant in pre-covid times.The food is tasty and there are a decent number of options that a whole party can enjoy. However, the service today (Thursday afternoon) was really bad. Extremely hard to flag down workers and no one really came around to give extra slips for ordering or take extra orders. After one hour and thirty minutes, the second slip was not even completed, with some items not even being there.This is really disappointing to say, especially when my group used to come here every other month years ago and always had a nice time. I was craving some sushi in flushing and someone told me about this spot. I went to try it out and I am never coming back here again. It took them 10 minutes to take my order. I ordered chicken udon, vegetable udon, three roll sushi, hamachi kama, red snapper sashimi. It actually took 30-40 minutes for our food to come out. It wasn’t even crazy busy and i didn’t know it took 30-40 minutes to make some california rolls. The service was terrible. And when the food arrived it wasn’t good. The udon tastes like well udon. I came here more than 3 times and how worth I pay for sushi and sashimi buffet? No place in Manhattan can beat this place and the quality of food compared to the price isn't that bad at all. for the service, sometimes when you order so much of food, they can forget your order so you have to follow up with your order. Normally they will give you 2 hours to eat and gratuity is already add, so make sure after your bill comes.

The service leaves a bit more to be desired. They don’t come that often to check if you’re running out of drinks and take new orders. Usually you have to grab their attention instead. On the flip side the food is decent and the sushi and sashimi was good. Definitely worth trying out the special rolls they make as well.

The food and ambiance was lovely. The service was relatively quick. We ordered lots of sashimi and we got what we ordered. The dish I particularly liked was the fried Oreos for dessert and don't forget about the ice cream.

We bought delivery from Main St. the sushi they delivered was messy. Idk what’s going on, and the taste ok…. Not as good as the one in bayside. Disappointed!Food: 1/5

Great place Great food Varieties of seafood. Service is Great. Only suggestion is better music background. Highly Recommend
