I am the mother of a daughter who visited Ronin in Royal Oak last night with a friend, and I am deeply disappointed by their experience. They were the only young Black customers in the establishment, and it felt as though they were treated poorly because of their race and age. They waited 15-20 minutes before having to flag someone down for service, and one of the waitresses outright told them, “I can’t help you,” without finding anyone else who could assist them. Eventually, another waitress with orange/ginger colored hair did help them, but the overall interaction was frustrating. I've been patronizing this place for 4 years, but the past two times I've gone, they've gotten my order wrong. Although they seemed happy to remedy their mistake, the corrections were terrible. The last two times I've gone, I ordered through the take away window, and both times the girls got my order wrong. The first time, they fixed my order, but gave me the worst sushi roll I've ever had in my life. You want to come here! I had such a wonderful time here. The hostess was so nice and well dressed. Our server was very attentive and gave great suggestions. The atmosphere was my favorite part (aside from the food). On to the food, they have a great variety of options for a lot of dietary restrictions and preferences. The portions as great. You are getting just enough to be able to try a little bit of everything and not be super full. They have spectacular mocktails! If you’re in the mood for good sushi and good vibes, come here.
The sushi was super fresh, and it looked amazing with all the vibrant colors and different textures. The service was awesome—really friendly and attentive! One of the best place ive been in royal oak. Im a vegetarian and they have many options in sushi and starters. Their drinks are amazing, its always packed with peeps but thats the vibe i love about this place. Chelsea at Ronin was incredibly warm and welcoming, going out of her way to accommodate our separate bills with ease. She went above and beyond to ensure that nothing contained sesame due to my allergy, making the entire experience seamless. Truly the best service I’ve had in a long time!
