I ordered the Vegan Mushroom pizza from the vegan menu, which was delivered in around half-an-hour, but when I opened the box, I found a sorry looking piece of slightly-cooked dough roughly shaped like Australia and occupying around half – two thirds of the box. The topping consisted of a see-through smear of reddy-yellow stuff, about half a very, very thinly sliced mushroom and roughly 6 razor-thin slivers of red onion. No sign of any grilled portobello mushrooms, slow roasted garlic, battered shallots or oven dried toms. As for the taste, the cardboard box probably had more taste than the ‘pizza’. we have eaten at this place so often and it will never be boring, especially if the menu has now been extended so that they can create their own special combination. I go to the ronnie’s original, it is only sublime and the slow fermentation of the teig makes it so unique. the personal and the owner do an amazing work to make every trip to Ronnie for us as good as the last and the fact that all products are produced locally makes it so much better. If I had mine gone, I would eat there 3 to 4 times a week, because ronnies is the only pizza I've eaten today. why they go somewhere else if they can get the best at ronnie’s. if they like authentic wood-fired pizza, then they get this restaurant...
I ordered the vegan mushroom pizza from the vegan menu and it arrived in about half an hour. However, when I opened the box, I found a disappointing looking piece of slightly baked dough shaped like Australia, with very minimal toppings. The topping consisted of a thin layer of red-yellow sauce, a few thin slices of mushrooms, and some red-dyed blades. There were no grilled portobello mushrooms, roasted garlic, shallots, or dried tomatoes as advertised. The taste was very underwhelming and the pizza was a poor value for £13. The triple cooked wedges were also disappointing, with some still being raw in the middle. I would recommend avoiding this restaurant and their overpriced menu items.
I went to Ronnie's on a Wednesday evening and found out that you can get a pizza and a starter for £9.99 (the price is higher on other days). The pizzas are large, so you need a big appetite to finish both. There are now two vegan pizza options available, when there used to be only one. The VGN Special and New Yorker pizzas can be made vegan. The sides include vegan coleslaw, olives, and focaccia bread. The pizza was delicious but took some time to finish. It was definitely worth the money! The staff were friendly, but the service was a bit slow and the restaurant was cold despite sitting near the radiator. I visited this restaurant in the past as part of an organized event. The food was of high quality, the service was quick (even though it was extremely busy) and top-notch. I have been to many wood-fired pizza places where they cook the pizza for too long, burn the crust, and make it difficult to eat. This was not the case here. The portions could have been a bit bigger, but I usually have leftovers to take home anyway! The regular menu prices were average, but the special deal we received was fantastic.
The vegan pizza option at this restaurant is very good, but there is only one choice available on the menu. I was able to add on extras, but there are no vegan sides available, not even the fries, as they are cooked with non-vegan products. It was disappointing that there was no non-dairy option for coffee.
