Rose And Thistle

This pub was recommended for Sunday lunch by a friend. It lived up to the recommendation. We arrived without a reservation mid-Sunday afternoon. We saw some tables had been reserved. However, the manager gave us a table even though they were quite busy. We chose the lamb dinner for €14. We didn’t feel like a three-course lunch. The dinner was excellent in every way. Well presented and the lamb was nice and tender with all the extras on the plate. The mash was nice and buttery. As for the Yorkshire pudding, I’m not sure how that ended up on the plate, but it was an added benefit and went well with the lamb. The staff were friendly and professional. We didn’t wait long for the food to be served either. All in all, this was a very reasonable price to pay for an excellent meal. This pub is nicely laid out and very comfortable on the upper level of the Port next to the English butcher. There are also tables outside. I will go here again without question and would recommend it for Sunday lunch.

Like a lot of places in Duquesa Port, the Rose Thistle is trying its best to attract the little amount of tourists and locals that are out and about at this time of the year with the additional problem of COVID-19 hanging over everyone. The quiz night seems to be a good step forward, it is not a serious competition and I think a lot of the proceeds goes to nominated charities. The drinks are good in here and although we didn’t try the food on this visit, I have heard that the portion sizes are excellent and the menu has a bit of something for everyone. Support any bar and restaurant that stays open over the winter otherwise we may see fewer back next year.

Top one arkid even though it's a Leeds bar they still make us Manc's welcome. Sash though she is a certain je ne sais quoi an Enigma. Simon though Avoir un cœur d’artichaut. Top Sunday dinners, Not too many scousers a nice little balance of fools and sweethearts.

Se metió aquí por una cerveza y se llevaron el F1 así que se quedó para ver eso. Un lugar muy agradable, volverá a disfrutar del asado dominical como parecía brillante. Lo hará una visita regular cada vez que estemos aquí.

Un bar agradable con una buena selección de cervezas y también tapas. Precios buenos y tanto comida como bebidas buena relación calidad-precio. Volverá esta semana.
