I dived in to this lovely old pub in the Jericho area of Oxford after viewing the excellent Pissarro exhibition at The Ashmolean museum earlier. Haven't managed to go to either for nearly three years. (I live in London. The Rose and Crown still has the original old wooden bar area plus other nooks and crannies, and a meandering garden at the back. There is a good range of real ales on, including Old Hooky of which I consumed two pints served in jug style glasses, along with some crisps and nuts. There is a nice traditional food menu. This is a pub to have conversations with friends. It is has a wonderful laid back atmosphere. One can think and ponder and philosophise here, and read a book too. Give it a try.
