Stayed here for the weekend nice comfy room.bed was amazing and very comfy, very clean. The bathroom was like a fridge I put my bottle of water in there to stay cold , the window had a massive gap which didn't shut properly and it sounded like people were in the bathroom with you when they were talking at the front door off the pub.i wasn't keen on the food we ate in the pub on the first evening and wasn't keen the chips were really greasy but tasted like oionin rings and the curry didn't have a lot of flavour. The breakfast wasn't great either and i didn't eat hardly any off that either so we didnt bother the next day and went for breakfast somwhwre else but the room and pub were nice with...
Holidaying in Bowness on Windermere couldn't have gone better. The Royal Oak inn is the place to stay at. It's conveniently located in the heart of Bowness just off the main street so very quite. The rooms are welcoming and very clean and the bed super comfy guaranteeing a good night's sleep. Food is great and there's a wide selection of drinks and spirits too. Hearty breakfast offered with the option of additional items at no charge. The staff are all lovely helpful, courteous and friendly. Will definitely be back if ever in the Cumbria area. A home away from home place
We came here one evening for dinner and really enjoyed it. The food was great and there was a nice choice of beer and lager. The service was excellent too. (I seem to remember coming here earlier in the year and you were shown to a table upon entering and the drinks were table service. Thankfully that has gone now!
I have overlooked this place in many years of visiting Bowness but this is a lovely pub with extremely friendly and helpful staff. It has a decent range of beers and they do serve food (I dd not eat there). I will be visiting this pub on every trip going forward.

We had a lovely lunch at the Royal Oak. Food was great and the service was brilliant. Going in with a dog and a baby we received a very warm welcome and we all really enjoyed our lunch. Would recommend the hallomi sticks, they are amazing.
On the crazy snowy weekend in December the open fire was a warm welcome. Service was good and the menu had plenty of choice. I had the steak pie which was good but not great. This was our second visit here and I'm sure we'll return.
we have just visited the royal oak for a afternoon drink, but for lunch. young couples were so friendly, enthusiastic and hard working. 10 from 10 to everything.
LOVELY little Inn. Stayed 2 nights, owner's very welcoming. Lovely breakfast. And the coffee was most appreciated one afternoon. Food looked great..
