My family has been going to this restaurant even before it became the Rusty Moose. One of our sons worked for RM during his high school years. So, we, our extended family, and friends have always used the restaurant as our gathering place. My husband and I frequent the awesome lounge. So yes, we have been long-time promoters of the Rusty Moose. That all changed last night at 7:30 with a haggard, stringy-haired receptionist who bustled around as if she were so important and busy until it came to our party. Visiting from out of town, and stopped in to the Rusty moose for dinner. We sat at the bar were promptly greeted by friendly bartenders, who took our order. The food was exceptionally good, and the ambience of the restaurant was fantastic. While the service was good. The food did take a long time to come out. Would have been nice to have the bartender swing by every now and then just to let us know that they had not forgotten about us as It had taken so long. They could’ve been short staffed in the kitchen, but the food was worth the wait. Would not hesitate to go there again for dinner based on our experience this time. I ordered the surf and turf dish. The 8oz sirloin steak was very tough and difficult to chew. It was also hard to cut even with a steak knife. I had requested a medium cook but it came out well done with no pink color at all. The asparagus was cold and undercooked. Overall, the meal was overpriced and lacked flavor. We do not plan on returning to this restaurant. The service was for a dine-in dinner and the cost per person was $30–50.

We arrived at the restaurant and had to wait for someone to seat us. We were then informed that we would have to wait 5 minutes for a table, despite there being few people in the seating area. A group that came in after us with a reservation was seated before us, which made us question the hostess. In terms of the food, we would rate it a 5, the service a 4, and the atmosphere a 4. I took 5 clients to this restaurant for lunch. They wanted to eat, drink and watch a ball game. There was no bartender on duty. We were standing in the empty bar watching TV when a waitress rudely told us we would have to go wait in the lobby until a table was ready. We left and spent $300 at another restaurant. This restaurant is a fantastic spot to enjoy an elk burger and beer. The service is excellent, and the atmosphere is cozy. I highly recommend trying the Rocky Mountain Elk Burger. Perfect for a dinner outing with prices ranging from $20 to $30 per person.
