Back to Rusty Pelican after long absence to celebrate son's birthday. The food is always good but so happy with the updated decor! Much brighter and not so The view is still, of course, spectacular. Service was very good and attentive without being smothering. Scallop appetizer was done to perfection and scallops are hard. The cornbread was amazing so light and moist. I had the blackened swordfish special again, perfectly done and flavorful. My husband had the halibut special also wonderful. My DIL had the crab stuffed grouper which was huge and my son had a filet. Both reported they were excellent. My son got a creme brulee as a birthday treat and we split a key lime. Couldn't even finish it it was so large. Nice to be back with an old and trusted friend for a special occasion. It's not cheap but it's well worth the splurge.
Menu selection is lacking and was extremely noisy- was so bad we could not wait to leave. Also, the building and decor is in MUCH need of an overhaul. Disappointed to see how beat up it is! Chairs in lobby torn, decking outside extremely weathered/ugly. Valet parking was also inconvenient as very short staffed with long line of cars and seeing all the empty spots was so frustrating! Bad overall experience.
This was a return visit after a poor experience with a server. The food was great as it was the last time. This time we had Sheila for a server and she knocked it out of the park!! Glad we gave the place a second chance but restaurants should realize it’s the people on the floor who can make or break a dining experience!
My first time there and the setting was beautiful. It was a sunny day and we sat right next to the window and had a great view of the water, fish, birds, and boats. It was the perfect setting for a Saturday brunch. Looking forward to go back for dinner and enjoy the sunset views.
