This restaurant is well placed on the sea front, and we stopped to view the menu as we walked by . We allowed the maitre d to entice us in, and form there on, it was the worst dining experience we have ever had , We both ordered mussels to start. The shells were big, but the meat inside was tiny and tasteless, Very poor quality shellfish.We had a bottle of rose wine that tasted like vinegar. On to the mains. I ordered spider crab with creamy rice . What I got was rice swilling about in a dish of burnt oil with some small rubbery chunks of squid mixed through it , On top was a crayfish, with less meat in it than an average prawn.It was vomit inducing! Saliendo de temporada, muchos lugares están cerrados. No hay mucha opción. Este lugar estaba abierto y tenía mucho éxito. Es bastante grande por dentro y por fuera, y estaba bastante ocupado. No había muchas mesas libres. Según pude apreciar, había muchas personas locales aquí, lo cual generalmente es una buena señal. Normally I do not walk in these restaurants with a 'tres chique ' ambiance because most of the time it 's very formal and most of the time very expensive. But, one could be wrong. And this was the case at Sa Platja. A very friendly welcome when I walked in and I was seated at a spot with seaview and castleview. (only one minor, I hate the bright light when I 'm dining) It was rather busy but the waiter took his time te seat me and present me the menu. Again I was surprised with the range of possibilities and the prices. Not entirely expensive. I ordered a couple of dishes and asked for the local wine. Decided to visit for dinner as they had a reasonably priced set menu with things we'd both eat. The arrival wasn't particularly welcoming and we were only offered main menus, I had to ask to be given the set (obviously to deter you). The restaurant wasn't busy so staff were literally starring at you waiting for you to order. Starters were ok, nothing amazing. Main, we shared a mixed paella which was over cooked/burnt. Desert was fine. A table next to us sent their food back for being cold. A quick 2 mins (in the microwave I presume) and it was back out. We were the stupid tourists that were lured in by the very charismatic waiter/ maitre d '. he sat us at the best possible view table (which was a joke) and that was the last of the best of the experience. Everything they did was shady. After talking about our experience did we realize we were swindled several times. From switching bottles of cava and wine (giving us old flat cava and cheaper wine) to serving us very old seafood. Had we read the reviews on here prior to dinner we would not have gone here. Save your money and go somewhere else.
Tossa de Mar está lleno de excelentes restaurantes, desafortunadamente este no es uno de ellos. Nada de lo que pedimos podría describirse como sabroso...en el mejor de los casos era tolerable y el filete en salsa de pimienta verde era incomible. En realidad sentí lástima por los camareros que parecen ser conscientes de los problemas en la cocina.
Food was awful and completely overpriced for the standard served. Nothing was cooked fresh, paella (we had one of each as was group of 7) was a disgrace and the canaloni was inedible. If the kitchen can't cook they should shut up shop as all they are doing is ripping off tourists. Left 150 euros lighter and wishing we had gone somewhere else.
Buscamos un lugar para comer paella de pollo. Parecía agradable cuando se sirve pero para la paella de pollo tenía demasiados huesos por 16 € por porción. El ascenso estaba nadando en el aceite. Con un tiempo limitado y sin saber nada sobre la zona mientras regresábamos a Barcelona de un día de excursión a Girona, decidimos parar en este restaurante ya que podíamos sentarnos en la terraza. La comida y el vino eran buenos, no excelentes pero suficientes. Fue una experiencia agradable. Disfrutamos la vista.
