We thought it would be good to try out a veg south Indian restaurant that seemed popular. Walking in and taking a table we are transported to India, with the decor, the staff, the table placement and menu. Except the odd local and the prices we would have found it hard to believe we were in London. We even had a big group of Gujarati's sitting at the table beside us. The menu says that their cook is from Udupi, which made our mouth salivate. We ordered for a Mysore masala dosa and a masala utthapam with a plate of fried idly to start with. There was nothing mysore about the masala dosa and the utthapam was like a pizza with mild indian toppings. We actually had to leave food on our...read more

If you been abroad for a while and your gustatory receptors are craving for some authentic indian food just head straight to sagar. This is my second time here. Amazing service amazing food. You are welcomed with papad and some sides. The menu covers a wide range of south indian food. They also have rajdhani and other thali options too. They play good old hindi tunes that makes you feel at home. I always find this place filled with all sorts of people and not just indians. I had no food all day and now super satisfied with one good thali! Although i regret wasting food. The quantity is too much for me. Not sure if they have just curd rice in menu. I'm just thinking about it as i'm...read more

I have been wanting to try Sagar for the longest time. So one of the days when the husband and I were shopping on King Street, we decided to do dinner here. When we entered, the place was jam packed with people and it was a surprise we could get a table. The table we were seated on was in quite a cramped area. When we saw a larger table freed and requested for a change, the waiter was nice enough to let us switch. When I opened the menu, I was delighted to read that the cooks are from Udupi my hometown! Such a delight. The food is more like the kind you would find in a Mumbai Udupi Restaurant (or Udupi hotel as they are famously known in Mumbai). It was interesting to see a...read more

the sagar restaurant has a great location, about 5 minutes walk from the park stations hammersmith or ravenscourt. this place is purely vegetarian so great for veggie friends. I'd be back here, and I'd just go for her cans/uttapas. Although the rest of the articles are pretty cut, and with that I mean that are contained sambar and chutney. they offer very less amount of sambar and chutney with the dosas and uttapas and it is taste quite averaged. Punjabi dishes and sabjis are also moderate and only satisfy their taste buds. overall the place lacks energy (in the food and in the personal) and is therefore one of my not posts.
