One of a few restaurants in the El Alamillo area, just outside the main part of Puerto de Mazarron. As it was at the start of our two week stay, and we hadn't yet hired a car, we took a chance on Sal Y Almagre as it was close to our apartment. Not a huge choice on the menu, and as has been stated already mainly used by Spanish diners. The young lady who served us was a non English speaker, but as I have a basic command of speaking Spanish, we were able to communicate our order and exchange a few social words. I ordered a steak meal, which turned out to be thinly sliced raw meat that you cooked yourself on a hotplate at the table, which I found both fascinating and tasty. No other vegetables came with it, just local bread etc, but it was still delicious. My wife had a pork dish, which she enjoyed. We also had a bottle of Rioja. Service was quite quick, and I was happy that they were playing some good English and American pop and rock classics from the 60s and 70s, (my era), which made the overall dining experience more enjoyable. The bill was NOT cheap, coming out at over 60 euros, but the quality of food and service validated the price.

We read the reviews on Tripadvisor and decided to give Sal y Almagre a go for lunch. We were absolutely delighted with our choice. We sat on the terrace and ordered a number of appetisers and a meat dish. One of us doesn't eat fish, I know, odd to go to a fish restaurant, however the non fish dishes were truly delicious. The meal cost us €49, and whilst at the upper end of pricing for a lunch, it was money well spent. Previous reviews have said it doesn't matter what you order, it's all delicious. We can only concur. The portions were larger than we thought they would be, so we didn't have room for dessert. However, we will go back one weekday for the menu del dia. We highly recommend this restaurant, the best meal we've had in our 6 weeks here in Mazarron.

This is a very atypical restaurant for a beach holiday destination as it cooks all the very creative dishes in a very healthy way using non traditional methods. I liked it and recommend it if you are around and want to try something different

Love having this restaurant on our doorstep. Quality of the food is exceptional. David and his staff never fail to please with service. Had a little extra for my wifes pre birthday meal.
