Salt Kitchen And

We have been to Salt many times over the years and used to like it. The setting is lovely but the nice experience ends there. Our waitperson was the nicest young man who tried really hard. The food was average, except the obster bisque which was very good. But was served with a teaspoon rather than a soup spoon. We requested soup spoons. They finally were brought out after we had finished the soup. They said that because there was a wedding going on that there were no soup spoons available. Service was not smooth but interruptive. Some dishes were cleared, some were left. There were only of us so it wasn't like we were a large, difficult party. There were other very big issues I won't write about because I don't want to get the waitperson in trouble. All I can say is there are so many other good places to eat in Rye/Portsmouth and we wished we had chosen differently. We had the idea that this would be a "special dinner" but it was spoiled by various events. for a so-so meal is so sad. Don't waste your time at Salt. We are done with it

My wife and I went to Salt for a date night. We started with the charcuterie plate which was awesome. It had great meats plus super-generous servings of cheese. For our main course, my wife got a salad with grilled chicken and I ordered the dry-aged ribeye. I hesitated to order this at first because the menu said Market Price. I've never seen a steak listed at market price on a menu. However, my wife's menu showed the steak priced at so I took the plunge. Imagine my surprise when it was served and looked like a steak that I would get at Longhorn Steakhouse, about an inch in thickness. I ordered it rare and got it medium rare to medium and it did not taste at all like a dry-aged steak. I was absolutely shocked when the bill came and the charge for the steak was What a total rip-off. I would not recommend this restaurant and will likely never dine there again The only positive was our server, Monica. She was amazing

Salt always delivers on delicious dinners and always disappoints on service. This is too nice (and pricey) a restaurant for servers who are poorly trained (couldn’t open a bottle of wine, brought other tables’ dirty dishes to our to bus, served other tables drinks while my husbands pork cooled because he had no knife). Additionally looking out the window at dirty dishes on tables outside (from lunch was disappointing. We have visited Salt many times and the service remains a problem

sat early at after a drink at the bar, all servers friendly and professional, hostess sat us at a lovely table. server was professional, advised us well on our choices of food. food served in a timely manor. It filled up very quickly. Very nice evening. lovely hotel. usually go there each Christmas. loved the summer visit as well. thank you
