I'm lucky to have friends in Tubingen that are real 'foodies' as they always take the time to choose the best restaurants when I am in town. The restaurant is hidden away from the main part of town but still within easy walking distance. It is small and justifiably busy so do book in advance.A welcome from the kitchen was served which was a leaf coated in sesame seeds and coconut with some chilli sauce - I could have eaten a few more - I would love to know how they made them. We then shared an appetiser of vegetarian rolls which was amazingly fresh and tasty. When the main courses arrived we were glad we only took one starter - they were huge!I had the stir fry vegetables with peanuts, again...
So first of all: I highly recommend you make a reservation since space is limited - especially during seasons and days on which you cannot sit outside! You can get a blanket if you're cold outside though...The interior has a lot of style, it looks really beautiful and is very pleasant to be having delicious Thai food! Even the bathrooms are in far better shape and conditions than most other (even German) restaurants.The waitresses were very friendly and professional, never bothersome and in their kind very pleasant.The food: ... was absolutely delicious! You get a little "Gruss aus der Küche" before your meal which is a little appetizer that tastes absolutely nice.You can have your dish spic...
Went to Samphat Thai for our Valentine's Day dinner. The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. Definitely try the appetizer that consists of fried mushrooms with a seafood dipping sauce, it's really one of the best appetizers we have ever had. I don't eat much duck, but the duck dish with the sweet and sour sauce was great. Also make reservations this was our third attempt and we finally got to try this wonderful restaurant!
Entering the restaurant the atmosphere is nice. Looking at the menu we recognized that food is rather expensive. The starter was ok, but the main dish was very average. Even corn from the can was used, so not all veggies are fresh. And one of the main dishes we ordered came with champion instead of shiitake mushroom as described in the menu. In summery this restaurant is too expensive for what you get.

Samphat Thai is a nice Thai restaurant which is hugely popular with the locals (if you want to go be sure to make reservations or be prepared to wait). The service is relatively quick and friendly, the food is ok. However, it is Thai food which has been watered down significantly. It is very far away from original Thai food.

As a party of seven we really enjoyed a lazy Sunday lunch here. The food is genuine Thai and the service is excellent. Don't skip the aperitivi. The Ginger Tom is particularly tasty. The food is beautifully presented and overall there is a fine ambience.
Really authentic Thai food. Was fully reserved when we walked in, so we decided to take-away. Very friendly service though the price is at the higher side. Main dish costed around 20 € and side dishes around 10 €.

Very friendly and delicious food. They also have nice summer drinks that come in cute jars. See photos. I would come here again if I feel like Asian food.
I have been to Samphat Thai twice - both very pleasant experiences. They offer a very varied menu, excellent service and delicious meals.
