It's midnight, I've had way too much to drink and now exploring king st for a late night option. I tell you what, I hit the jackpot. First thing I noticed is this place is packed and there's a mob on the street awaiting their freshly cooked order a very good sign I thought And I have to say the pide's here are some of the best in Sydney. And that's not just the beer talking, I was actually paying attention to the detail.. the pastry is so perfectly cooked with a nice smoky, crispy exterior. The meat was moist, just spicy enough, and very generous in proportion Flavours were spot on, and helped along with fresh herbs, lemon and a garlic dip. Very good late night option.
HSP or Halal Snack Pack, is a new craze taking off here in Sydney and maybe Australia. Not a traditional dish from the Middle East but it's something we can call our own here in Australia With simple ingredients from crispy freshly fried chips, craved off the spit beef and chicken which is then thrown onto the hot pan to crisp up and topped off with garlic and chilli sauce. This dish is perfect after a late nighter or for a hungry person If you haven't had an HSP, you don't know what your missing and Saray is place to try your first or get your regular HSP fix.
Why would anyone put mint on a vegetarian pide? maybe it was a mistake. At the volumes that it was included maybe they mistook it for spinach. How do you mistake spinach for mint? What other mistakes are they making? there was no mistake with out tastebuds. It tasted horrible. Like you had leftover christmas potatoes that had mint sauce on them and you decided to make some kind of bubble and squeak out of it. You'd take a mouthful and then scrape it into the bin. Into the bin Saray.
seriously the best kebab I ever had in my life. I love gyro to kebabs, but I also love a classic late evening kebab this is this style of kebab done to perfection. the meat is perfectly cooked, juicy, tender, little kohlenkrüppel on the outside. it is magical they use the perfect amount of sauces and the ratio of vegetables to meat to sauce to brot is perfect all other kebabs will be forever disappointing

I was craving for some Turkish cuisine and found an excellent restaurant near Newtown station I ordered Chicken kebab plate and was impressed with the juicy, tender and flavourful chicken topped with humus and tomatoes. Service was excellent and it was probably one of the best Middle Eastern restaurant in town.
good Turkish, but a little expensive. succulent meat, good dips, crispy tasty pide. it wasn't for taste, but it was little wrong. but saray seems to be one of the most expensive Turkish places to be and I do not think it is good enough to justify the prices.
As old as Newtown itself (close enough), is this humble establishment that has brought immense joy to a lot of people's hearts over the years Wether you're going for the fast Kebab or an eat in style Turkish meal this place promises to please
Will be calling in here regularly now that I know how good their fried zucchini fritters are. Dunk one of these in baba ghanoush or hommus for a heavenly taste. Unfortunately there is no lamb available, just beef and chicken.

good place to stop for a tasty lunch nice service -very generous amount of bark in bark kebab -fair prices -fresh authentic Turkish food!
