If you feel like some native cuisine, this is a place I can recommend. I had the 'Thuringer Teller' which consisted of a marinated steak, bratwurst, delicious fried potato dumplings and nice salad which contained sauerkraut. The food is very filling and there is also a good selection of German wines to complement your meal. The service was very good and I appreciated that even though I was dining on my own, they were happy to give me the last remaining table which could seat four people. Of my recent two week trip to Germany, this was my favourite dining experience.
Some reviews suggest there is confusion as to whether reservations are taken or not. Our hotel receptionist tried to book a table and was unsuccessful. We pitched up on a Friday evening at 6.30 and were asked if we had a reservation but we did not but they gave us a table. The meal itself was excellent, with smaller portions on offer too, so there was room for pudding.. The service was more than helpful and we had a wonderful time. As ever when dining out in Germany we found the value outstanding. Highly recommended.
Some people quite like that sort of thing and there is nothing wrong with the food. No change in the quality there. However its not as good as when I first visited a few years ago. The "scharfe ecke" has disappeared as the pavement outside has been modernised. While the previous regime had a bit more of a "pub" atmosphere and the staff were a lot more engaging. Now its more formal and probably somewhere you would take your grandmother or someone else who enjoys petit bourgeois formal dining.
11-1400 lunch time. Reservation possible but not necessary. the time of the "Zwiebelmarkt" no reservation possible. Good german food: Schweinebraten mit Klösschen (pork), Ente (duck), Gulasch and Rinderroullade (beef) were excellent. Portion have a good size. The atmosphere is nice. The restaurant small and old style. Price classy maybe a bit high but the quality of food is actually great so ok for 12,90 -16 Euro (little portion available and a thought worth). We went to that restaurant because of the good ratings. We entered the restaurant and asked if they have a table for us. The waiter were very rude they told us that we should do a reservation weeks ago and no there is no chance to get a table and we should go. For me it's fine that they did not had space but the way how they talked to us was rude and unfriendly. Restaurant was looking nice also the food was looking nice
This restaurant is well worth your detour. It serves traditional German food, in a wonderfully warm and quiet environment. The servings are large and the staff very nice and ready to assist you in your choice.Caution: the restaurant is small and you are better off reserving ahead of time (the day before or as soon as they open).
it´s a lovely place for lunch or dinner and the staff is amazing. We had three dishes for lunch, the Wuerzfleisch, the Gulasch and the Braetel. The Braetel and the fried oniens were oversalted unfortunately while the other dishes were amazingly tasty. The portions were big. The first course would have been enough already.
There is nothing extremely special about this place, not sure why it is #1. Just a decent, rather heavy food served here, with starters much better than main courses. I have asked for a small portion but get the big one instead, without option to change it. Credit cards were not accepted on the day I was there. Reserva una mesa ahora
