The Schiffercafe on the castle to the Nord-Ost-Seekanal offers a wonderful place to relax on sunny days. For cool drinks and smaller dishes, you can observe how the solid, mostly old and yet large ships are cleaned, prepared or made ready for departure. The café offers indoor seating and tables outside the door. The prices are very fair and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The visit to the café can be combined with a walk on the canal or lighthouse. Parking is unfortunately not so numerous for cars, but if you are ready to go a little, you will find something.
The Schiffercafe am Thiesenkai is our favorite place! We come from Hesse and when we come to Kiel, the café is our first destination. We love to sit there and drink a cappuccino and enjoy the view of the NOK! Also the Salami Baguette are really legendary!

Today we found a beautiful table in a super atmosphere in the circle of the family until the departure of my mother. We liked it very well and the goulash soup was top. Thank you for the great hospitality. And a great lobster to Nicole!
The salmon bread with the honey mustard is topp, we were already there coffee drinks! I'd like to come back! Toilets were also very clean and there is even a wrapping pad for the little ones, even for the dog there was a bowl outside!
Pretty slow service. Hurry up and wait seems to be the staffs motto. Acitive listening is a skill that could be greatly improved.
