I love this brewery, I am here several times, and I think that schlenkerla is one of the best beers of the world. However... we sat in the small farm (beer garden) and ordered some beers. I then saw that my favorite sausage was on the menu. the waitress went past me and took one from another table. on their way back the whiteworst, but they were said to be not available because it was last afternoon. on my iphone it was only 12.00 the loud neighboring cathedralen watch had no rings 12. but no whiteworn for me! a few minutes later, the waitress went past us with the orders she had made before me on the other table without saying that it was white! This restaurant was high regarded on TripAdvisor. And indeed it was very crowded. The smoked beer was strange tasting at best. Me and my colleagues did not like it and the 6 local guys that we shared our table with had the same opinion ...it was not good. Food was average, nothing special, reasonably priced. Service was below average due to very long waiting time. After asking for a bill and waiting for 20 minutes, we had to go to find a waiter overselves. And there was a big unpleasant surprise for us cash payment only. My colleagues had no cash on him and it was a frustrating experience for him. I am expecting to warned in advance, before I order, that a business accepts cash only. Overall...
This afternoon I ordered a Rauchbier (which sort of grows on you) in the Biergarten an saw that they had Bamberger Zwiebeln on the menu. So I went back in the evening a sat at a large table with other guests and ordered a beer...and the Zwiebel. They both tasted like more , so I had another Rauchbier. The good atmosphere in the Stube made me decide to someday go back to Bamberg, because it is a wonderful city.
The brewery seems to be very famous. It even has its own Wikipedia page! It was quite packed on a Sunday night. The smoked beer was quite interesting. I would call a must try while visiting Bamberg. The Bamberg style onion was special, but tasted...rather average. Social distancing was not well followed at this restaurant.

when we were told in bamberg for the city tour about this pub with smoked beer. a friend I met on the river cruise came to me and it was certainly different. Not bad and I could get used to it. the atmosphere was. so dark and inconspicuous. we were warned by our leader that the service will be gruff, what it was.
amazing traditional German (bamberg) eating. they have produced many tips from beer in the house. a very special dark. in the center of the city, very historical location must be booked because is really busy restaurant. I was there on Tuesday and was 100%...full
I had dinner here, typical Bavarian pig meat with Sauerkraut. They serve Raucherbier, beer with a smoky taste, very special but nice. Around 6 pm, the place is packed outside, almost like in London. I enjoyed being here, 2 evenings in a row.
What a special treat to drink their different smoky beers. We also had dinner there and food was good and plenty. But you should definitely come try their beers

It's stylish and traditional. A perfect place to taste and buy (take away) Rauchbier/smoked beer brewed since 1405.
