We did a small trip to the Schopper Alm few days ago and really enjoyed everything there the location, the beautiful house of this restaurant, the wonderful playground for kids infront and of course the food and the service we got while our little one was playing around. The way there through the gorge takes some 1 hour, maybe 1,5 with kids when they stop for playing in the river or forest around. There are some 200 stairs so is not feasible for a pram, but there were people there also with cars so must be possible as well. We got some drinks and Bavarian food as well as some cake as a dessert all very tasty and at a normal price. There are so many activities for kids there so you can easily...
We have visited this place on Sunday, around midday. There were plenty of available tables outside, so we have decided that it will not take too long to get our food. After waiting for more than an hour I have asked the waitress about delay. She only shrugged her shoulders and said that the order for lunch was placed and now it is out of her hands. After waiting for another 40 minutes we were totally commited to wait more since it would take long hike to get back to the car. After total wait time of two hours I went to speak with the owner, who was reluctant to answer any questions and did not care to serve some small appetisers to my starving kid since there were other orders for food ahead...
We went to this restaurant which is very well located and also nicely decorated in an alpine style. We have had real difficulties to get the attention of the people doing the service. Asking them we even have rude answers from some of them saying that they were not taking the orders! After all these difficulties we ordered some food and then, waited for a very long time to have our food (45 minutes). This place will always have customers, due to its location, but they should really raise their standards regarding the customers care.
Schopperalm Chalet is above the gorge with the same name with a safe (inc children) walking route through the gorge . above the gorge the river is safe to play in. The vhlet has a play area and farm animals and good walking routes cycling routes past the location . You cant drive really there Make sure its open !!!!
