I’m not sure why the people who gave this place a negative review did so. We had a wonderful experience with quick service. Even though we didn’t have a reservation, we were seated right away and taken care of very adequately. One thing that Americans...seem to forget is that meals in Europe are not rushed and the service is ‘as needed’. They will basically leave you alone unless you signal for something and then it’s there. They will not rush you in eating or having a relaxing time with the people you might be with. This restaurant is no different. The meal was fantastic and the dark beer very good! Give it a try and if you can make reservations, perhaps you should.
This is a lovely quaint restaurant in a pretty residential area of Heidelberg. Our hotel was about minutes walk away so I called to check if I could reserve a table. The response I got was a short and not so sweet “not a...chance” and the phone was hung up. However having eaten here during previous visits we decided to persevere and walked in on spec. The restaurant was very busy in fairness but we were seated pretty quickly. The waitress was very welcoming and friendly. The menu is limited but the food was very good, especially the schnitzel. Definitely worth a visit for good homely food. Perfect on a cold winter’s night.
This restaurant was a short walk from our hotel and was great. It was pretty busy at but we were warmly welcomed and shown to a table. Provided with English menus. Most mains were presented as Fried Potatoes with..... other things on the menu...included Spaetzle and salad. Beer was usual German “fantastic” and wine by the glass had plenty of choice. Both had a schnitzel (one turkey and other pork). Both were perfectly cooked, not dry and good sized portions. Was a good dining experience in a very buzzy atmosphere. Loved it.
