Visited today for lunch having seen reviews and was very disappointed. We gave our order and waited an hour for the food to be served. Two of the meals were OK but the other two were very poor. The burger was warm but not hot....The haggis nears and tatties was cold. We sent it back and it came out again and was still not hot enough. Served on a cold plate. The young lady who served us did her best but it was not her fault. The manager said the food was tested at 70degrees. I'm afraid they must need a new thermometer. The experience spoilt the lunch for all of us. Not good enough.
I had a nice breakfast here. her eier benedikt is fantastic, everything was perfectly cooked, they quickly informed me that the Muffin delivery had not arrived yet, but I preferred the sourdough toast anyway. it was all delicious. coffee was good, and the service was...big, everyone was very friendly and attentive. it is a beautiful place to get a filled breakfast before they start their day, I would highly recommend for anyone who is past the old town. get a terrace seat when you can and have a meal with a view.
the service mai was consciously relaxed, but in reality it was ridiculously slow. the waitress insisted to take the beverage order first and to come back to the food later. when the food arrived, it was landed on our table without check box with us and the empty glasses and tassen were simply ignored. the food was well presented and served cake hot, but not better than any other decent facility I had eaten while in edinburgh.
Thoroughly recommend for lunch if in the area. Looked cosy inside but we were lucky to get a seat on the terrace. Macaroni cheese was huge but tasty (the lovely assistant did warn us it was a generous portion) and a side order of fries...with garlic mayo went well down well. Couple of glasses of red wine and two excellent espressos rounded off a lovely lunch. No room for pudding I’m afraid, perhaps next time.

I have eaten something with my friends and was thrilled with eating and the staff. I had the calamari and it was delicious and our waitress was super friendly. comes back 100%!
Friendly staff, good food and nice atmosphere. We were seated inside where they had deviders between tables. The haggis and cranachan were delicious. Some local beer in cans.
delicious food and drinks! we were there for a private function, so we were about 8-10 different fit around hors d’oeuvres and every dish was delicious.
I was very pleased with the good service and the delicious food! would definitely recommend if they were to ramp up market!

The staff were wonderful especially as we arrived early. The food was fantastic. Great place for holding a business lunch.
