we stumbled over this sweet little jewel on our way to home from calgary to edmonton. in scenic ponoka, in the inner city, which needs some fidgets, we found the personal welcome, helpful and engaged as soon as we went in the door. obviously this place in ponoka is a popular place since most tables in our section were full. the atmosphere is family-friendly, with large tables and stands, good for family celebrations. the place was immaculate, but the decor was 't much to write about in our section. we sat in the buffet area. I liked the atmosphere on the other side of the restaurant better. a little quieter and away from the trubel of the buffet, etc. they do not expect a chic restaurant experience, that is a mother and pop place, well run! they have a daily buffet, full of what most North Americans call Chinese eating, deep roasted, shattered bun, ripen, bark meat, rührfries in sauces, etc. the families with children pop is served in doses, but it is not too expensive. we ordered us in the menu. it has amused that the menus were menus. we had 'dry' claw ribs, they came in a very light teig coated, almost tempura like. it was perfectly fed, even I, who usually do not ' gluten, enjoyed it. bark and broccoli. the cook perfectly grilled thin slices of bark meat, then gently the bark meat with broccooli, which was not boiled excessively. no knocking sauces, only garlic, salt and a few other subtle flavors. it was great. - Yeah. Once again the meat was perfectly prepared, the sweet were crisp and bright. When they shake out every sniffy expectation of a 'high class' culinary experience and the caffe for what it is, a well-runned, family-friendly, family-run business, catering for small villagers, they will enjoy its charm. our server was very helpful! the main part of the restaurant is wheelchair-friendly, although I am not sure that the washrooms are. I'm disabled with balance problems, I'm going and I've done it.
