Not the nicest day to enjoy the terrace but nonetheless, it was nice to be there right on the lake. That is ..... until the food arrived. Usually Swiss food distinguishes itself by a solid executation of reasonable quality ingredients - completely serviceable but doesnt knock your socks off. Once you know Swiss prices, it takes a lot to shock, and at this place it did - not so much the price, but what was delivered for it. Take my perch dish at about 36 francs with about 6 measly small fish pieces, completely overcooked (or dried out for hanging around too long in the kitchen) - even the piece of lemon was dried out (it fell apart when I tried to squeeze it.) We fell in love with the location of Hotel Baumgarten and the relaxing atmosphere far away from any sign of globalisation.There is a cetain nostalgic feel to the place and the hotel has obviously not been renovated in a very long time so it retains many signs of years ago . My husband spent a night there on a bike tour recently and on this night, there was a Caribbean event . We decided to return as a couple for the next Caribbean night and the setting was perfect , the weather held up and all in all , it was a wonderful experience to be able to dance on the patio with the lights from all the neighbouring villages shining out on the lake .We ate dinner under a vine covered pergola which also...

Lunch for three and we all were quite happy. My veal liver came over well and that is good for a specialty like that. My friens Felchen and Salat were frssh and were attractive to the eye. Service was friendlich, a little salopp. Our table right on the lake over the water under some trees- could not better. Inside on the way to the restlooms the age is sure showing and lots of work to be done,if the place can create the revenue to afford it. It has potential. Good summer stop on lake Zug.

This is one of the nicest restaurants on a Swiss lake, come and enjoy the absolute skills of Ueli Burger, the charming waiter. He welcomed me in a top class way.My sister joined with her grandchild and we had the poached fresh Forelle Fish, an absolute delight.The price was very decent compared to other classy restaurants and the restaurant was full all afternoon on a weekday.Keep the good work up and we'll definitely come again.Thank you!Mariana Amar Reserva una mesa ahora

We had the Egli filets in this beautiful restaurant by the water, the weather was compliant, the service perfect, waiter Michael with his excellent humour the best staff member we could have wished for.Food was great, price a little high but who doesn't pay for a great feast with a view!Appreciated.Mariana Amar

Found it by chance. The location is great if the weather is nice. Lunch food was close to the minimum, but with these prices far below minimum. Service unfriendly and not welcoming. Better look for something else. WC must be renovated, the sooner the better

We had a wonderful afternoon here. The waitress was very attentive and friendly. The food was a bit costly but delicious. The view and location were beautiful and perfect to reach via a private boat! Overall we had a satisfying and great time! Thanks!

The food is served with great service and the location is very beautiful - outside right on the Zug Lake. Swans floating - vines overhead - it's very romantic. We have 4 kids wouldn't rule out taking them as well. Reserva una mesa ahora

Service, food, prices are ALL terrible. Beautiful spot which MUST BE avoided! Someone suggested just having a coffee here. Not even that!

Mainly in the summertime worth a visit. It is located directly at the lake of Zug with spectacular view into the surrounding mountains.
