Located on the beautiful Theresienplatz, Straubing's picturesque city square, Seethaler is an institution serving delicious food to locals and tourists alike. The restaurant interior is typical Bavarian style, making for an inviting ambiance. English speaking staff accommodates questions of foreigners with a smile, as they peruse the extensive menu of Bavarian specialties and international main courses. Prices are reasonable, portions are ample in size, and the food is excellent. One can not go wrong choosing the Restaurant Seethaler when in Straubing.
Wir waren an einem Wochentag mittags dort und hatten reserviert. Die Bedienung war freundlich und schnell. Obwohl wirklich nicht viel los war, haben wir nicht alle gleichzeitig das Essen bekommen, was mich persönlich stört. Ich hätte Käsespätzle, die einfach nicht gut waren. Die Spätzle selbst waren gekauft und nicht selbst gemacht, die Röstzwiebeln ebenso. In einem Restaurant erwarte ich allerdings schon, dass diese Sachen hausgemacht sind. Die anderen waren größtenteils zufrieden mit ihrem Essen.
During the Christmas market season, you need to come early to get a table, the restaurant was full by 19:00, although it stretches out to the back with many tables. We had the Griesklöschensuppe (semolina dumplings in beef stock), followed by once the Gäuboden-Teller (signature dish: pork meat with dark sauce, sausage, kraut, potato dumpling) and once the Zwiebelrostbraten (rumpsteak with fried onions and fried potatoes). Everything was fine, along with friendly and efficient service.
Das Hotel Seethaler in Straubing gehört leider zur aussterbenden Spezies der Familienhotels mit erstklassigem Preis/Leistungsverhältnis. Kein standardisiertes Kettenhotel mit austauschbaren Gesichter, sondern schon am Empfang eine Dame, die ihre Gäste kompetent berät. Hier bekommt man ein sauberes und ruhiges Zimmer mit Bad. Parkplatz im Hof. Ausgezeichnete bayerische Küche im Hotelrestaurant.Das Frühstück nicht gerade luxuriös aber gut. Komme gerne wieder.
Been there for dinner, on a beautiful day, just off the main market place in Straubing. It is a traditional place, not too dark Bavarians seem to love places on the dark side , cosy gemütlich . Good service, good food, good drinks. Everything very much okay, and recommended, and nothing exceptional: a good 4-star-place that won 't disappoint you.
Mitten am Stadtplatz gelegen ist dieses traditionsreiche Restaurant auch schon ein wenig in die Jahre gekommen und eine kleine bis größere Renovierung würde ihm nicht schaden. Das Essen und der Service ist sehr gut. Im Sommer kann man mitten auf dem Stadtplatz sitzen und hat eine schöne Sicht auf die Sehenswürdigkeiten in der Umgebung.
