Overall, eating was not what we expected from a restaurant that should be rated so high. the disappointment is the least of the adjective to describe our experience in sel. at $200 per person (which included wein), this was a waste of good money. something about every dish on the cook four-course menu lacked taste, and the presentation of each dish was overwhelming. the only dish that inspired our taste buds was the little cup sorbet to clean the palate. everything else was unstoppable. the first cure, the sole of the beer, was served lukewarm and in a bowl with so heavy sawn sauce you could hardly make the oysters. the second cursor, the date boot scallops (or should I say scallop as it was...

The food at Sel was a major disappointment, especially considering its high rating. We paid $200 per person, which included wine, and felt it was a waste of money. The Chef's four-course menu lacked flavor and the presentation was lackluster. The only standout was the sorbet to cleanse the palate. The oyster dish was served lukewarm in a heavy cream sauce, making it difficult to taste the oysters. The scallop dish was overly salty and only consisted of one thin slice. Amazing anniversary meal at Sel! We were greeted with champagne, ordered an incredible Burgundy, then had the wonderful Chef's Tasting Menu: Highlights were the otherworldly beef tournedo with chicken liver madeira sauce, then Cara had the filet, Mike had the elk loin—each incredibly rich and flavorful. Our server, Gilbert, was attentive, entertaining, and insightful and we couldn't have asked for a more delightful meal. The interior where we sat was comfortable and beautifully decorated, and while the meal was expensive, we hugely enjoyed every bite of it!

Over-hyped “Old Town” Restaurant. Not a great experience for my boyfriends Birthday and we had reservations weeks in-advance. The One Bonus: Bartender Sam was friendly and accommodating. We waited two hours for our cold-served entrée. This is one of my only negative reviews in years. We dine-out several times a week at different types, price points, and locations. We have been there several times and every time, the food and service are superb. Another bonus: their outdoor patio dining area is on the east side of the restaurant so cool and shady before sunset. Stroll around the numerous art galleries nearby before and after dinner.

Beautiful experience, especially for an anniversary! Very accommodating and the service was stellar. Will definitely come back again with friends to have a fun dining, chef tasting experience. The outdoor seating was very cozy and highly recommend.

This is my second time dining at SEL in the last few weeks. I am very picky about what I eat. There are no better places to dine in the Phoenix area. Sel is one of the 3-4 top in the valley. Certainly none better. Imaginative fantastic food
