Selby's - Reserva de mesa

My review is based on expectations of a one Michelin star restaurant. Firstly, we were kept waiting 45 mins for our reservation. As the bar was packed there was nowhere to sit or get a drink while you waited so we had to stand by the door. No-one offered to hang my jacket. After 30 mins they did bring a complimentary glass of champagne, but nothing for my minor son. After eventually being seated, the food was below expectations. we ordered the caviar which was spoiled by being served on deep fried bread that was too oiled. Service level was high to the point of intrusive as we felt someone was constantly at our table delivering something or taking something away. More than 8 staff waiting on our table over a 3 minute period while eating. The food was tasty but warm at best. For the price that was paid (over $500 for two people) I would hope the food would be hot and not luke-warm at best.

This has happened multiple times when we order a bottle of white wine it comes to the table barely cool. It should arrive chilled especially if it is $300. Also some of the staff then work very hard to chill it asap and some other staff just put it in a bucket of ice and hope it cools down somewhat. This inconsistency in inappropriate in this caliber of restaurant.

Great ambiance, great service, food was not worth the money. Website menu advertises $98 pre fix. When we arrived the pre fix price was $105. When I checked online today the website menu price is still $98. Food was over salted, meat was grisly, basic wedge salad was not cold, fruit used in desserts were hard and not sweet. Linda was our server. Excellent!!! Really worked with us on our preference for a long dinner pace and we were never left needing anything.

Food and service were great. Table was 30 minutes late but they made it up for us by offering us our drinks plus a glass of champagne.

Service was exceptional, ambiance was very nice, food was surprisingly average for a restaurant of this caliber and price point.

We LOVE Selby's will definitely be back again. They made us feel so special on our anniversary.
