Nice rustic BBQ joint with nice outdoor picnic benches for good weather. The restaurant had nice antique Texas motifs and nice lodge-like decor. The waitstaff was fast and courteous. I had the two meat plate. I had sliced brisket and smoked turkey, bothof the meats were high quality. For the sides I had corn, fries and mashed potatoes. I also had a unsweet tea for my beverage. Had lunch at Shady Oak BBQ and Grill today with my friends. This place is incredible and what a history and the interior has some beautiful carving?especially John Wayne!!! We have never had a bad experience at Shady Oaks. Until last night. Party of 4, we were seated in near bar. I. guess the bartender had to do double duty, she was not a friendly server, it was not busy in this area, she had no more than 2 tables of r people at one time while we were there, never offered refill on anything but water, we all had sodas or margaritas. Food came out with hot sides, cool meat. the brisket was the driest I've ever had there. Between the unfriendly server and brisket, I was horribly sad. we brought out-of-town friends here. We told them it's the best around. We arrived at 5pm on a Thursday night. it was not busy at all. very disappointing, to say the least.
Pulling in, the parking lot is well marked and free of potholes. Aesthetically, the landscaping is beautiful and the building is rustic and inviting. Walking in, the decor is pleasing and provides an atmosphere of rustic country with music to enhance. Beautiful atmosphere and vibe, and a solid meal. The brisket unfortunately was plain. I don't know how else to say it. You're primed for Texas brisket, literally, your mouth is watering, then you take that first bite and it tastes like it was maybe in asteam tray or something. Aside from that, great sauce, super yummy Texas beans, and fried okra. I'd go again, but it would bea distant choice versus a destination event.
Friday night just before the rush. Took my 2 niecces from Florida. Had an excellent table on patio. Food, drinks, service all were excellent. Wife said her bbq chicken ????was the best she ever had. Had a band, three fools on three stools, playing. Firstnight ????back since pandemic. County music ????with the band interacting with patrons. Weather was fabulous and we had afantastic time. ???? great place to go.
I celebrated my birthday dinner at Shady Oak Barbecue Grill, one of my favorite BBQ spots in Fort Worth. The BBQ sauce is absolutely delicious. Aaron delivered outstanding service, paying close attention to every detail, which made my experience truly special. I will definitely be coming back.
