This restaurant was a pretty mixed experience for me. We ate at this restaurant as a plan B , so we walked in on a Friday night without a reservation. No reservation meant that we were immediately told we had to wait 45 minutes. We took a seat at the bar area to wait for the table. The bar area was very full, making it noticeably hot. There was loud music making it difficult to hear the person sitting next to me. Some might really like this kind of scene, but I guess it just didn 't feel like the atmosphere I expected from a Japanese restaurant. After a lengthy wait, we were finally seated in an area that was much more comfortable as it was much cooler and quieter. I ordered a bowl of ramen...

My only dislike is the music is too loud to have a conversation, but if that is the atmosphere you are going for it’s great. Sushi and service is great and dining outside with the little trees lit up is super cute! We got 4 sushi rolls and all were great but one was just meh. It was the one we’re it was steak mixed with spicy tuna, but I’m still glad I tried something new. Parking: For those unfamiliar with Arlington heights parking, there is a free parking garage two blocks away but you cannot park in floors 2 and 3 without a paid permit. So it’s a lot if winding up and down. I would try to find street parking if you can. Kid-friendliness: Not kid friendly imo, save this for date night or g...

Elegant, all black, silver many sparkly chandeliers. Food excellent. Drinks overpriced. Didn 't like hidden wasabi gluing shrimp to rice etc. as ruined taste for those who dislike. Wish all rice, including sushi, had more taste less dry, like Hibachi restaurants. Extremely loud causing anxiety, unlike authentic Japanese, similar to French, where everyone whispers. Gave up ordering more. Shouting, still couldn 't hear waiter, so stressful. What happened to true background music, encouraging quiet conversations. Only 2 stalls in lavatory? Gorgeous but could easily fit 4. Hostess distressed we hadn 't called to change to 7 instead of 8, they hadn 't planned nor been told of this change . My son...

Shakou is always a hit. The volcano roll is our go to and my son is so obsessed with their Mac and cheese that he constantly wants to go there for it! Love the ambiance! Last time we went, though, the service wasn’t amazing and our waiter consistently helped others around us before us when we had been there significantly earlier but got to order after other tables. Food: 5 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 4

Quality has gone down over the last phew years as they grew, but still a solid place for sushi and drinks. Their hot sake is really good. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $100+ Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes: Sushi, Edamame, Volcano Roll

I was there for a just one item but they are extraordinarily slow or they are especially not taking serious orders from third parties. The preparation took 52 minutes for one item worst ever experience in my life Service: Delivery Meal type: Other Service: 1 Reserva una mesa ahora

Great food and very friendly staff. Did feel like I waiting a long time for food and the check but not so much that I'd dock a star over it Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
