We have not visited many Indian restaurants in France since we moved here a few years ago. Therefore we were excited by the reviews of this restaurant not far from our hotel where we were visiting in Nantes.The starters were good and filling. However the naans were doughy and undercooked. My husband who is a vegetarian ordered saag paneer (Spinach and Cheese curry) dish and there were just the tiny specks of what looked like melted cheese. No firm cubes of paneer that we are used to having. This made the curry stodgy and not very nice. I had the chicken and it was bland. Not much flavour. Cuisine exceptionnelle, et c'est un ancien chef de cuisine 5 fourchettes Michelin à Xativa en Espagne qui vous le dit, des Personnes avec un Cœur aussi gros que la planète, si vous voulez voyager le temps d'un repas, découvrir une gastronomie orientale d'exception, et vous régaler sans ABSOLUMENT Aucun risque au niveau de l'igiéne, (ce qui ce fait de plus en plus RARE, aujourd'hui, je les ai observé plusieurs mois, et je peux vous garantir sur mon honneur et sur mon expertise professionnelle en ce qui concerne la restauration, que ces gens là passent leurs temps à faire le ménage. The atmospher was great. However the food was served cold. Indian food is enjoyable when served hot.We felt like we were rushed to eat: as soon as we barely finish a plate, they come and ask to collect it.Conclusion: if you looked for place to enjoy a gatheting around indian food you might want to look elsewhere.
The food was plentiful and quite good but it certainly lacked spice and it was very greasy! Prices are correct. Unfortunately the welcome is really without a smile or enthusiasm (which makes you less interested... overall it's a fairly average restaurant!

Always a pleasant moment at Shalimar where the staff are adorable and the cuisine is delicious and generous.
The food is very good, but you feel observed by the servers that observe you throughout the meal
