Shanghai Palace Restaurant

Not a lot of Chinese Restaurant to dine in now a days with mostly Thai and Vietnamese Restaurants flourishing around.We often see Chinese take away in Food Court but it is quiet difficult to find a good Chinese Restaurant that provides fresh and delicious Chinese meal where a huge family or group of friends can dine in.We had a short notice reservation for our large extended family of 18. It was Saturday night so we were surprised to get in. We have been warmly greeted by friendly staff. They took our order immediately and our entree served with in 15 minutes. Yeah it was good, but nothing memorable. I ordered the braised chicken with mushrooms and vegetables and it was nice. Just nice. My issue with the meal was that it didn't have much flavour in comparison to other braised chicken with mushroom dishes I have eaten from other Chinese restaurants. I did go with a group of friends and one of them did order the same dish as me, however with no garlic. For that reason, when it came to my order I clearly stated that I love garlic! I do believe however that they probably made our meals in the one wok and so didn't put any garlic in whatsoever. Not good experience here. It’s our second time to try this restaurant but we will definitely not come back again. Waited for one hour for two simple dishes and one soup even though there were no other ppl queuing before us. The food here is far more expensive than it supposed to be. The taste is not bad but there are plenty other better choices as an Asian restaurant. Don’t know why the review is so high. We are not happy with the experience here. BTW, it is my first time to write a review. Just feeling so bad right now.

One of the worst Chinese restaurants we have ever been to, to be honest. The special rice was a joke, it tatsed like poorly cooked cuscus with no flavour and tasted stale. The honey chicken tasted like it was was cooked, killed, then cooked again The sizzling steak was the most odd steak I 've ever had, it tasted like steak flavoured fat, I have no words Also little worried that at 6pm prime dinner, we were the only ones in there Reserva una mesa ahora

We have been often and regular customers of the Palace for many decades. Their food has always been well received by my family. Sometimes we have had banquets for a dozen people or more and never a complaint from anyone. A unique consistent taste and quality every time, always enjoyed and rarely any left overs. I would recommend anyone give them a try.

If you like waiting for an hour for food this is the place The younger waitresses are polite but the older ones not so much. For entree, crab meat soup. Came out in about 20 minutes and was decent with 1 small piece of crab. For main, chicken omelette with steamed rice. It was ok for canned mushrooms and couple eggs.

I have been coming here regularly for over 30 years, even though I lived over 30km away. My family and I love the food and the friendly service. They are happy to create special meals. Take away food is great too. Would recommend Shanghai Palace to everyone.

Great Food, the ambiance is nice. The staff is friendly. Try the Sizzling Mongolian beef.
