It 's Sunday and we have just come from the Polish Festival in New Britain. 'Twas a blast, but now we need food and we want a good deal. Well, Shish is one of the places on the planet that offers a Sunday happy hour. Can you believe it?! So here we are! Atmosphere/Appearance: This is a restaurant of many different faces and it 's pretty cool. The outside is very inviting with a few tables and chairs to dine out in the sunshine. Inside transports you to a world of where all of this wonderful food comes from. The decor is amazing and something you truly have to see for yourself. This was our first time coming to the Shish Kebab House. It was recommended by a friend who claims they have one of the besy Happy Hours in the area $3 drafts, $6 appetizers) and really good food. I have never had Afghani food so I had no idea what to expect. We sat at the bar. The bar tenders and the servers were the nicest they recommended several appetizers for us to try. I wont pretend to remember the names of the dishes that we tried but everytihng was deleicious. We were four and an infant in stroller. Being Thursday, finding parking was easy. We got a nice table large enoghy to make the kid sit in a bumbo on the table. She enjoyed the scene and we were able to have the food peacefully. The hospitality was great. The appetizers Pakwara n Bowlana n Ashak were very good.The Vegetarian Dinner, Kabeli Palow with lamb and the Slmon dish with brown rice are very tasty. The Lamb was tasty and Salmon was just cooked right. The egg plant and mushrooms side dish were good too. The cocktails were great. Overall experince is awesome with great service from the stewards.
Visited for an early lunch at 1130 before a business meeting. We had Mantoo as a starter which is minced beef dumplings with split peas and yogurt. Fresh and tasty. Mains were minced beef shammi kebab with potatoes and eggplant and lamb kebab with mushrooms and spinach. You can also have rice. Meat was superb quality tender and great spices. Sides were also fantastic. Quiet as early but friendly attentive service. The restaurant has an upper floor with tables and a lower floor with a nice bar. Wonderful meal and very reasonable prices. We had a wonderful feast for four. It was wonderful because it fed us in different ways. I appreciate oriental rugs. Well, they were carpeted and hung with Afghan, Turkmen, Caucasian and Persian beauties. Our waitress was smiling, friendly and helpful. Everything came with the hospitality I have grown to expect from Middle Eastern and Central Asian cuisine. Everything was above average from bread to appetizers to meats. If you come into the area and skip this place, shame on you!
Was visiting with coworkers after a training and one of my out of state friend who lives in Ohio suggested this spot. I had never heard of it but wow what a surprise. Where has this been my whole adult life. We had hummus and dumplings for apps and they were terrific. I had the ground chicken kebab, eggplant and rice and was not disappointed. This spot is West Hartford so look them up when you are there. The service was great and prices were perfect. What a pleasant surprise.
I came here on a Tuesday evening for a happy hour with some coworkers. I was able to find parking pretty easily on the street outside with a short walk. The inside is very cool with nice decoration and a large bar. The happy hour runs from 3pm-7pm and comes with a large drink set and a appetizers. Martinis are as little as $5! Our server was very friendly and the food delicious. I recommend a visit, especially for happy hour.
This is my favorite restaurant and there are no shortage of restaurant in W. Hartford Center. The eggplant side dish is a must. I always get double that just because it’s so delicious. The yogurt salad and lemon salads are both light and refreshing. Reserva una mesa ahora
