This restaurant once run by the National Trust was a great place to stop after a long climb.You got lovely Mugs of tea, to drink in front of the open fire home made cakes and the food was just superb.Again home made soups and broths in a bowl with local pies and local home made lamb dishes, with a guitar in the corner for anyone to play.The entrance hall had maps of the local area that were free with books to read to tell you about the local area.Sadly it’s all gone.If you like natchos covered in cheese and quick food to give a quick profit then this is now the place.The new owners have stripped away the ambiance that the place had and replaced it with very high priced little effort food ha...
Came to stay for the weekend in the bunk house behind the pub, accommodation was perfect for the group, clean rooms and hot showers! Perfect after a long walk. We sampled a few of the local beers from the bar and also some of the locally distilled spirts next to the fire pit in the extensive terrace out the front of the building, and enjoyd some great live music on Saturday night in the bar. This restaurant in the Langdale Valley is exceptional, offering top-notch food and excellent service. When my family and I arrived during peak lunch time, a table was quickly prepared for us. The hot chocolate for my daughter was absolutely magnificent. The food was incredibly delicious, especially the pulled lamb nachos which could easily compete with those served in high-end gastropubs. If you find yourself near the Langdales, I highly recommend this well-managed restaurant with exceptional service. Don't miss out on a visit! Additionally, the manager introduced me to Wi-Fi calling when I needed to make an urgent phone call during my holiday, which was a game-changing concept. Thank you!
The food is exceptionally delicious, and the flavors transport me straight to India. The staff is friendly and attentive, ensuring a delightful dining experience. The menu offers a wide variety of authentic dishes, and the quality is consistently top-notch. I can't get enough of their butter chicken and garlic naan. Lovely, warm welcoming. The stickle barn has really upped its game. Lovely friendly staffamzibg selection of drinks. The food is amazing. Unusual menu at first look, but food is amazing. Best burger and sticky fries fabulous. Generous portions are really tasty. Can recommend the coffees , chocolate and Guinness cake too. The views and welcome all year round are amazing
Despite arriving in 18 inches of snow, the staff at the restaurant were incredibly welcoming and went out of their way to open for us, even in the terrible weather. We were the only ones there and had a wonderful experience with delicious food and excellent service. A job well done, and thank you so much!
Our recent dining experience in the Langdale valley was truly incredible. We have been visiting this restaurant for 40 years and tonight was exceptional. Joe and his team were outstanding, going above and beyond to ensure a fantastic atmosphere with attention to detail. The live music was also fantastic.
Good points: Friendly staff. Clean toilets and a nice dining area. Good beer. Bad points: Food was overpriced and poor quality. Sadly I would not eat here again. Was a lot better in the past.

Exceptional food, great atmosphere great staff. The manager cant do enough for you and really makes you feel welcomed. We enjoyed it so much we went 2 days consecutively for food drinks.
