Sky Bistro, Mountain Top Dining @ Banff Gondola

We booked the Sky Experience - this includes the gondola ride,appetizer, and entrée. We booked our table around sunset and it was a spectacular view even with the smoke. I would have given this place a 5 star but the waiters need to be more attentive better trained. Waited a long time after being seated, we were just enjoying our time up there that we didn't notice how long we waited for our waiter to come to us. Ordered our drinks and another long wait. I'm all about enjoying the moment but there is a reasonable time to wait and then there is the feeling of being forgotten. We got the latter. It's unfortunate. Canadian Rockies forest fires led to no visibility from atop the gondola- the restaurant can't obviously control that. The temperature of around 87 degrees Fahrenheit in the restaurant can easily be remedied yet the restaurant is "working on that." How is this overlooked when it can be warm in Canada? - in fact this had been the case for the past two months up until the day we ate here. This made the dining experience downright intolerable. To boot, you had to ask for ice in your water! The food was good for the most part, save my wife's dish which had tough beef. Ashley and the other servers provided great service but a finer dining establishment needs to have the basis of air conditioning...

The view and the food ! This is all I have to say :) after waiting for 20 min for our writer to show any interest of us , we were getting a little annoyed , but when we finally got our food it was to die for . We made reservation 30 days before in the package with gondola ride , and it sure was worth it . On the menu they have lovely selection of beers from Canadian breweries and even one from little brewery in Banff ! It was very cool to try local beer on the top of the mountain . The bison stake was to die for and probably one of the best stakes I had in a very long time . For sure is a must !

Food was great, waitress was lovely. I had booked this (the gondola lift and meal) as a surprise for visiting sibs and special birthday. I had sent a special message asking for a great seat for this occasion & was surprised to be brought to one of the worst spots...it was smoky anyway but still, could have been at any restaurant. Only other things were they didn't have the char which I knew my husband would order and the amount of food could have been a little better. Sangria special was good!

If you want, you can purchase a meal plan when you go up the Banff Gondola. One place is more basic and one is nicer- we chose the nicer restaurant, as the other place was expensive also. We were not disappointed. The service was good and the options were nice- we got to choose one appetizer and one main meal. My sister chose an appetizer of rack of lamb and the seafood combo dinner. I got the scallops appetizer and the Bison loin main meal. Everything was delicious.

We went to Sky Bistro for a light dinner and we had the Lamb Chops that were to die for then we had the dessert we picked the chocolate mousse cake and it was the best we have ever had! Spoke to the friendly 'Tall Anna' our waitress who filled us in on the local highlights and she looked after our every need! Great experience, thanks!

Hard to beat the view on a good day. Good super, so was service. Kitchen a bit slow when it gets busy.
