This restaurant serves the best dhal puri compared to other roti shops in the area. While the curries are flavorful, their portion sizes are on the smaller side and could use a bit more seasoning. I also wouldn't recommend trying the pastries, as they're not worth the price. Additionally, it's apparent that the staff seems quite nervous around their manager, who closely oversees their every move. It must be quite stressful to work in that kind of environment.
I had a delightful experience with the chicken curry, pumpkin, and roti. The pepper sauce that came with my meal really elevated the flavors. If you're in the Liberty area and in the mood for West Indian cuisine, I highly recommend this restaurant. The customer service was outstanding too; the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. The best dhal puri is served here among the other roti shops on the Ave. The curries tho a small portion in size, could use more flavour and don't waste your money on the pastries. The staff here are visibly afraid of their boss, who monitors their everymove. Working under such conditions must be exhausting.

I've been coming to Sonny's Roti Shop for three years since returning to New York. Whether it's saltfish and bake or doubles, I'm never disappointed with my order or the customer service. Their sorrel is also one of the best I've ever tasted.
The food and service at this restaurant are outstanding. I've never had any issues during my visits. It's one of the finest Trinidadian restaurants I've ever been to. I highly recommend it, and the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful.
The food was tasty, but I had one issue: the foil container wasn't sturdy enough for Caribbean dishes. As I left the restaurant, the gravy leaked out. I suggest switching to more secure containers to prevent spills.

They have the best fish cake and sauce.. 2 of the fish cakes filled me up.. you get ur money worth.. also the Jellabi taste really good.. not too sweet not too hard.. it was the best I have had si far..
