Soquel Quality Meats

Bought a few rib steaks here the other day. Not sure where this place gets their meats, but I must tell you the steaks had an off flavor, sort of gamey, hard to describe and tough. Barbecued them and the lack of marbling was obvious. For what I paid, was not what I was expecting with all the rave reviews this place gets. I have one steak left and will cube it up now for chili, don't think it will survive the barbecue by itself as it has zero marbling and don't want to deal with another tough, chewy and stringy steak. Sadly, will go elsewhere in the future.

It's a small business, but very friendly with good prices. The meet department is great! you can find all kinds of fresh cut meet. The owner is always there to help, and not only that but they have a taco truck outside! How cool is that...

Stopped in just to pick up a drink this morning. Was completely ignored by employees. 2 men working behind the meat counter. Walked the whole store so I know they saw me. Took my drink to the register and waited, and waited. Finally left.
