First time back to this location since it was 55 Wine Bar years ago which we always liked. Not so thrilled with South Bay food was pretty generic and the draft beer all tasted off (tried 2 different ones) they might need to clean the lines or I got 2 old kegs. Service wasn't great either the waiter got a question about a dish completely wrong and disappeared a few times. The woman working the hostess station who I think may have been a manager was nice and helped out when the waiter disappeared and made right on an error on the bill.
The atmosphere at South Bay is inviting but there were hardly any people there on a Friday night. The service was pretty good- our waiter was attentive and charming but the food was just ok. I had pasta with clams and although the sauce was good, the clams were chewy. We got warm, yummy bread but overall it just wasn't that special. In a town with lots of amazing choices, South Bay needs to step up its game.
The food was decent, but the service was terrible. They seemed to be short-staffed, and most of the employees lacked experience. The first glass of wine we received tasted like it had been open for ages—it had a strong vinegar flavor. Our server disappeared for the last 40 minutes of our meal, so we couldn't order dessert or coffee. I won’t be returning to this place. That's the last time for me.
The house was getting slammed, with the hostess a no show. They pulled it together and got us seated and served. The food was very good (scallops dish had a little too much salt), and the service was very strong, given the circumstances. A great neighborhood resto, warm atmosphere and a lot of heart. Recommend!

This was our first time at the restaurant, and we visited before a show at FTC. We were truly impressed! The atmosphere was wonderful, the service was exceptional, and the food was fantastic. It made for a perfect date night. I highly recommend this place and will definitely be returning!
Great find on our way to SHU theatre. Noisy at first with young bar crowd but quieted down as meal continued. Wait staff very attentive. Food well prepared and nicely presented. Very enjoyable dinner.
Food was good, service was excellent, wierd smell in the dining/ bar area smelled like sewer gas brought the overall experience down!
The food, drinks, and appetizers were all excellent. I was pleasantly surprised.
