We ate at Southern Roots on a Thursday night. It was outstanding and I am a harsh critic. The atmosphere is relaxed, tables are a little close and it can be noisy. The service was attentive without being overbearing and everyone was very friendly. Wine selections were adequate, nothing of particular note. The food was excellent. I had lunch with some colleagues at Southern Roots, it was my first time dining there. The atmosphere is very welcoming, the service was friendly and swift. I indulged in the half loaf appetizer which was paired with some really delicious rosemary butter. The Gouda pimento cheese was so delicious and came with some tasty pita chips. I also had their Cajun catfish, spinach with garlic and house cut fries. The catfish was fried well with the perfect amount of crunch. This charming bistro has always been one of my favorites. But recently, it's gone above and beyond. The cocktails are crisper, the entrees are more savory, and the atmosphere is chill, professional, and romantic. Personally, I can't get enough of the iron skillet steak, which is always cooked to desired perfection. Complement it with a delicious Caesar and a full glass of red. You won't be disappointed. Sorry that I don't have a pic. This is a go to place where everything in the menu is consistently good. That's hard to say for a lot of places. I like going there and walking around to see all of the cool unique stores Jamestown has to offer.
